Spit-roasted pig at reception (CH)

Original post by JessicaM.

I am 'entertaining' the idea of adding on a spit roasted pig to the CH menu.

for some reason, the idea catches my attention, the the spits they have at the WM are really very nice. I think it might warm the area up a bit too. It's relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other upgrades..

am I nuts..what do you think?

I dunno-it's soooo different from anything else I've ever seen at a wedding that I think the pig might overshadow the rest of your wedding, as in that's all anyone will talk about. It does sound intriguing though!

You know my sister had a party with the pig on a spit and I did not think it would bother me, but I was WRONG! It made me so queasy... I would not want one but if you think most of your guests would enjoy it go ahead!

I agree with the other girls...you know your crowd best. If you think it would not offend anyone, go for it!! I personally would not opt for displaying an animal in such a way, but I'm a huge animal lover so you can't really go by me.

We are having a pig roast at our reception. A friend of ours is cooking it for us, so it won't be on display during the wedding.

Good luck on making your decision!

I agree with everyone, that you know your crowd the best, and I certainly eat pork but I just don't like the look of the whole pig, it freaks me out as well.

I worked in catering halls when I was younger, and lucky me was assigned to the pig carving during CH, and the kids ran up to me and started screaming that I killed Babe and some even started crying. Naturally, they didn't like me too much.

Well, I'm a vegan, and it would just upset me to see that, but if you aren't having any vegetarians there, maybe they would be ok with it...
