Sports fans - specifically baseball.

I'm having a discussion with someone about 'booing' players at a baseball game.

During Phillies games, if the fans are unhappy with the performance of a particular player (generally, a pitcher, or a big hitter who isn't doing well) the fans will boo him (their own player, not the other team.)

Do you ever see that in NY? I know I never have.

I'm trying to show him that that really doesn't happen outside of Philly.

LOL i was talking about this with FH this morning bc of how NY fans are, are you forgetting the whole EVERYONE hates A-rod last season bc he was in a slump and he would get boo'ed...i think they're pretty bad here with this and it bothers me

Really?

I've only been to a Yankee game once.

I've never seen it at a Mets game.

I know Philly is notorious for it -- they boo everyone, in every sport.

I didn't think it happend as much outside of Philly!

yeah it does happen ALOT...i actually brought it up in another thread not too long ago and i think its messed up how some fans are. If youre a fan youre a fan no matter what, not only a fan if they are doing well and winning.

I agree.

I think it's ridiculous. And, I don't think you are enabling a better performance by booing someone!

FH & I have been to 13 stadiums all over the states....

That only happens in the NY/NJ/PA/MA states....

I personally find it disgusting. NO ONE is perfect....you have no right to boo any player. How would you feel if he came to your job & booed you when you messed up?

ETA: It does happen almost everywhere in football though...

they do it all the time. if you're doing poorly, the fans let you know they're unhappy. i'm guilty of booing A-rod all last season. even when he's doing well i boo him when he's coming up to bat, but i just don't like him. the only time ever cheered for him was when we were at the game that he hit HR #500 - it's a great accomplishment, no matter how i feel about him and he deserved it. i actually cheered for him all day.

So -- it happens w/ the Yankees, Phillies, and Red Socks. That makes sense.

Right -- I would hate that -- it would make me want to do even worse, but that's just me.

Yep - those areas... We've been to games in Kansas City, Minnesota, both Chicago parks, St. Louis...it doesn't happen anywhere else as far as baseball.

I was only there once, I went in college, totally talked the college into sending us to KC for a journalism conference -- and there wasn't a goddamn thing to do there besides go to a baseball game.

Mike and Mike did say, yesterday I believe, that if it weren't for A-Rod ALONE, the Yankees would not have made the playoffs.

NO JOKE!!! We went to the Hallmark center & the mall in there -but that was pretty much it. FH & I still laugh about the fact that we found a SONIC there though - down the block from our hotel! We had seen commercials for YEARS - so it made our trip that we could finally have it!!

There's a SONIC in Lancaster -- right across the street from the Tanger outlets!
