I am so mad right now, the preist I have doing my ceremony will not allow me to do the hands prayer and I already asked my aunts to read it as well as put it in my programs!! It is not a church rule he is just mad I decided against having a full mass, anyone know what I should do, any suggestions on possibly someone else that could do my ceremony? Its not even so much the poem but the fact that he is really mean about it and I am just not comfortable with him now, and my wedding is in 10 days!!

I don't have any advice for you but how rude is he?!?! I can't wait to have the Hands reading at my ceremony-I think it will be my favorite part and my Priest is doing it even though I opted not to have a full mass. So sorry this had to happen right before your wedding

I am so sorry about that. I don't understand why he'd be against you doing it. It's your ceremony afterall! I am not familiar with this hands prayer. What exactly is it?

Re: St Kilian brides
Father Tod is the priest and the hands prayer is just this nice poem type thing that says 'grrom take you wifes hand, these are the hands that will hold your first child, these are the hands that will caress you when you are upset etc. ... it is really nice and it would make me really happy to have it but at this point I dont even care about the poem I just really feel uncomfortable with Father Tod because I could tell he was mad I wasnt doing a mass and I dont want to feel all that negativity on my special day, I am so upset right now I called and left a message for Deacon Rodenberg, who is deacon lous?

Re: St Kilian brides
There is another Deacon there his name is Deacon Lou (with a long last italian name that I can't remember right now). He seemed nice but honestly we have only seen him once and talked to him a couple times on the phone.
There was a young priest there about 2 weeks ago doing a wedding and he seemed really cool. Actually we were making jokes because he had a goatee with a shave head. He looked more like he would have a motorcycle and a couple of tatoos then be a priest. But he came over and said 'Hi' to us and just seemed like he was one of my brother's friends more than a priest! I don't know his name ( I hope that isn't Father Todd ) but the organist would know who it was. It was the 1:00 wedding on the 26th of April.
When do you do the hands prayer and where did you find it? It sounds really nice and we really needed to put another person in the wedding. Are you having someone read the Prayer of the Faithful or are you having the priest read it? Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: St Kilian brides
Sorry to hear, that is the exact reason we had Father Gerald Gentleman come back to do our mass. We love him! He is at St. Bernads and holy trinity now.
Good Luck
Does, he feel there isn't enough time for it?
I just hope he doesn't do the brink homily, if he is the priest I am thinking of he does it at every mass.. oh wait your not having one.
It is an awesome church to marry in and best of luck
You can try talking to the mnsr but he is very strict and by the book.
Also Paul the organist might be someone to try to talk too he is very helpfiuk

Re: St Kilian brides
Well the monsignor called me today and actually was so nice and understanding, he told me that father tod (who is the guy with the goatee, but goes to show not to judge a book by its cover) and had thought since they discussed it that i would be allowed to add it and was actually surprised so he is gonna give me a call tomorrow hopefully with some good news, ill keep you posted.

He is a great guy, not as laid back as the former MSGR. but still a great guy. He is by the book though especially music wise!
Did you meet Paul he is awesome!
I can't wait to see pictures!
My mom is so bummed she is visiting me this weekend because she would have loved to watch yours!

Re: St Kilian brides
I met with monsignor today and everything went well, I feel much more comfortable and happy that I actually found out now that i had to choose things out of the book other than old and new testament readings, and i get to do my hands prayer too!!
