I think we've finally come down to these 2 places. Original HM destination was Bora Bora, but buying a house and needing a 10% down payment altered those plans.
If you've been to either St. Lucia or Costa Rica, can you tell me where you stayed with comments?
I definitely want a mix of adventure and relaxation. Hiking in rain forests and swimming in waterfalls sound like so much fun. I definitely want to stay at a resort with a beach within walking distance.
If you've researched Costa Rica - do you suggest looking at places on the Carib side or Pacific side?
I've read a lot of positive reviews about the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia but I'm afraid that they're so commercialized and impersonal. Am I making a wrong assumption?
Is it also worth staying at 2 different resorts in the same country to mix it up at all?
TIA for all your help!

Re: St. Lucia or Costa Rica?!?
We had really wanted to go to Costa Rica, but ultimately chose St. Lucia bc we were worried about the rainy season. St. Lucia was gorgeous, but I think you've made the right assumption about the Regency. We stayed there and at Ladera. There is no beach on site, but they offer a shuttle to 2 beaches that are about 10-15 minutes away. I would highly reccomend Ladera for an amazing honeymoon!

I loved Costa Rica but July is rainy season but it will still be lush green and beautiful.

We went to St. Lucia (see my review for some pics!) and stayed at the Halcyon (Sandals) .. which is simply so peaceful and beautiful.. the staff was so nice and we had just about anything we can think of!

I stayed there too! I loved it there. It was so relaxing. Plus you get to go to the other 2 Sandals there. But I felt the Halycon was more relaxed and laid back...just how I like it!
Here are some pics so you can see how beautiful it was there!
