St. Lucia vs. Jamaica- HELP!

I had my heart set on St. Lucia. But our travel agent said that with our budget, we would get more bang for our buck in Jamaica. Basically, I wanted to do a rainforest zip line tour and the volcano... more adventurous stuff. I hear that Jamacia has the rainforest zip line to and some other fun, adventure-type, activities.


So, we can either do a shorter honeymoon in St. Lucia or try Jamaica.
Any suggestions/comments? My fiance is worried about the crime outside the resorts in Jamaica. Should we be worried? We are getting married in early May... any comments on weather? And finally, which Sandals in Jamaica would you recommend?

I stayed at an AI in Negril and loved it.... Jamaica is absolutely gorgeous and you would definately get more bang for your buck... There are some cool adventure type stuff... Climbing Dunns River and cliff diving at Ricks cafe (i think its still there - don't know if there was any hurricane damage from a few years ago). Also, we went bamboo rafting on some river - it was great. I was with a bunch of friends. Would've rather been with FH (awww... )... It was really romantic.

We decided that we wanted a longer HM than our 'dream' HM so we changed our plans. Anything you guys decide to do will be amazing. If you want I'm working with a fab TA and maybe she can work something out for you if you want to shop around. FM me for her contact info.

I personally would chose St. Lucia. It isn't as 'common' as Jamaica, meaning that I dont think a lot of people chose St. Lucia as a regular vacation spot (even though i went for my bday a few years ago). I was also in Jamaica (montego bay) and it was fun, but I really loved st lucia. just everything about the people and culture was great. the food was excellent!

as for crime, jamaica was a bit shady but st. lucia isn't well developed at all. for either of these places, i would take some kind of tour outside of the resort. you will be fine.
