St. Patricks Glen Cove or St. Mary's Roslyn ??

Hi Everyone,

I'm stressing over this and need some help. I'm not originally from LI and don't belong to a church.

Originally FH and I were going to book our ceremony and reception at the RH. I've now decided that I'd like to do a church ceremony (catholic), and I'm in a predicament..

Does anyone belong to St. Patricks in Glen Cove, or have you ever been to a wedding there?

There is also a church is Roslyn, I think it's called St. Mary's.....same question applies, has anyone ever been there or gone to a wedding.

I have not visited either church yet, was hoping to get some feedback first!

Thanks for anything you can add....

WENT to a wedding at St Patricks in Glen Cove...it was gorgeous and I saw so many places to take awesome pictures in and around the church.

That used to be my parish and I went to school there growing up and made my sacraments there and also I was there a few months ago (for a funeral) and its just so gorgeous. It has that old gothic look and i know the people there are nice and I would def. recommend that church!

FYI: many Catholic Churches on LI reserve weddings for parishoners ONLY.... so you may either need to join a parish OR find a church that marries non-parishoners. both of those parishes you mentioned are very busy, so you'll have to check.... parishoners get priority on dates and times. both of them are beautiful though....

ETA: is FH or his immediate family parishoners somewhere? you could get married there no problem.

Thanks girls!

FH does belong to St. Boniface, but doesnt attend all the much.

I loved the look of St. Patricks from the outside (bad way to judge) , but I really wanted to know what the church was like and what people's experience has been!

I'm going to call St. Patricks, and see what my options are!

Hi! I grew up in that area so I know these churches. (I went to St. Boniface).

St. Patrick's is really big and beautiful, the parking lot is across the street though (not a big deal).

St. Mary's is a more old-fashioned white/New England looking church. The parking there is not so great. When you drive by it on Sunday mornings, the very busy road it's on is packed with cars, which can be a little scary. But the drive to St. Mary's is more scenic than St. Pats.

Just something to think about for your guests!

I'm with you on all of the above....which is why I'm going crazy!! We're then having our reception at Crest Hollow - which in the summer on a Friday is atleast a 30-40 minute drive for our guests - just more to stress about! : )

Thanks for the posts!
