Stamping

Stamping

I've never been a huge fan of stamping, but I think it's because whenever I've tried it, it hasn't come out so great.

The ink usually runs a bit or is uneven in the design of the stamp. Either way, it never looks that great!

I read on 2 Pea's that many people emboss the stamps (or draw in the outlines) to darken the colors or something? How time consuming is that?

Is that what everyone here does?

Re: Stamping

I have gone so far as to buy stamps, I haven't used them yet

I did try to emboss once in a class and it's pretty cool. You need embossing powder (available in a bazillion colors) and an embossing gun. After you stamp the image, you sprinkle the powder on the ink and then take the heat gun to it until it dries. It rises up and glosses over. They have embossing pens that stay wet long enough to sprinkle with the powder and dry but I haven't tried that yet.

I know some people color in the images they stamp but I am not sure what they use to do that - chalk, colored pencils, something else?

Lisa Rose would be our resident expert on stamping

Re: Stamping

Yep, I bought a whole set of stamps too but haven't really tried it!

That sounds too time consuming for me though - I don't have the patience to individually outline each letter in each LO! Maybe I'll just stick with my computer fonts

I ordered Stampin up stuff online-its really nice! I'd love to go to a party too!
I used stamps on some of my cards for the swap-but I can't firgure out how to get more than two colors on at a time.
It is a little tricky, but I really want to do it.

Re: Stamping

Erica - do you have a trip to LI planned for sometime in the next few months? I am not really planning to anything until after the holidays because of schedules and such so if you are going to around let us know

They way the teacher showed us the coloring in was with watercolor pencils and a blender pen that kind of moves the color around so it looks painted. It really raised the possibilities of stamping to a new level for me.
