Can someone explain what STAR exemption is in layman's terms? Is it based on salaries?

I'm not sure exactly but go to the website for your town (Town of Huntingtont, Smithtown, etc) and they will have info on it.

it's a school tax exemption - based on the area you live in, i believe. go fill out the application at a local town hall - it's free money, as i see it. all you have to do is live there to qualify for it
