Hi Girls! I just have a question for you...FH and I have looked at a bunch of places. We are seriously considering Chateau Briand however we were told that we would have to have our CH start at 8:30pm. I am a little worried that it is too late however it is a Friday. It is just that if the CH is from 8:30-9:30 then the reception is from 9:30-1:30 people won't be eating until soooo late and it is just very late for people. What do you think is 8:30 to late?

Re: Start Time of CH
We had the same situation for the original date that we picked since someone had already booked for that date. We ended up moving to an open date and we were able to have our CH start at 5:30 instead. 6:30-10:30 reception sounded much more reasonable to us, especially for any grandparents in the room and my kid!

Re: Start Time of CH
For most weddings I've been to, regardless of end time people start leaving around 12. (This is why I chose 12 as our end time and 7 as the start of the CH, 6:30 is ceremony at RH).

We're having ours start at 8 but it's on a Saturday and everybody seems to be happy that it's starting later.

Re: Start Time of CH
I think it is late - we just went to a wedding at CB a few weeks ago where the CH started @ 7:30 - we didn't get dinner till about 10.
My FH and I don't eat a lot at CH so we thought it was a bit late... but that is just my opinion

Re: Start Time of CH
considering it's a friday, i like the fact that it starts at that time BUT i'd probably leave around midnight because i'd just be way too tired to stay any later.
if you're ok with people leaving early, then 8:30 is fine

Re: Start Time of CH
It's a little late but I think it will be fine.. mine goes from 7-8:30 and at first I was worried that it's going to be so late when people eat dinner at the reception, but I kinda got over it.. It's a wedding and people should expect that if a cocktail hour starts late dinner will be late also.
Even tho it is a late start, people might actually appreciate you starting at 8:30 cause friday weddings can be a hassle for people who have to take off of work to get there on time.. so those people will def be happy haha

Re: Start Time of CH
I do feel like its a bit late but when I called to question why it has to be at 8:30 she told me every room has a specific starting time and that it when that room starts. (I would be in the Saturnia room.) I do feel like its a little late for people. Plus I think I would be upset if people started leaving at 12...I would have an hour and a half left of my party with no guests lol finding a RH has been like torture. Lol

Re: Start Time of CH
they offered me that at villa lombardi's on the date i wanted originally - FH and i decided that people would not be happy if the party didn't really begin until 9:30 - especially our grandparents and other elderly guests.

Re: Start Time of CH
I personally think that 8:30 CH start time is too late especially for a Friday wedding. Don't forget that people will have worked all day Friday so most likely they will leave right after dinner is served.

Re: Start Time of CH
I think it's fine.... as long as it's logical with the rest of your timeline (like if your ceremony starts at 7:30 and it's at the rh or if it's earlier in the day at a church and you write that the rh part starts at 8:30). if people see that it's starting at 8:30 they will know that dinner will be late so they should eat something first! if you want to have a later wedding, have the later wedding! ours is starting at 7:30

Re: Start Time of CH
i have been to a wedding on a Friday where the CH started at 8:30. I ended up eating a little bit before hand b/c there was no way i could have waited that long after working all day... i mean people were fine and im sure people stayed till the end, but we left after the cake was cut.

We are in the Saturnia room and ours was supposed to start at 7:30 but we moved ours up to 8:00 b/c our ceremony at the church is at 6:15.
That's weird that they told you it has to be at 8:30? Maybe because it's on a Friday?
