Start Time of CH

Original post by ElovesJ117

Hi Girls! I just have a question for you...FH and I have looked at a bunch of places. We are seriously considering Chateau Briand however we were told that we would have to have our CH start at 8:30pm. I am a little worried that it is too late however it is a Friday. It is just that if the CH is from 8:30-9:30 then the reception is from 9:30-1:30 people won't be eating until soooo late and it is just very late for people. What do you think is 8:30 to late?

i think it's too late... it's fine to have the wedding extend past midnight, but most ppl expect to eat much earlier than that.

I think it is because we are having it on a Friday. I don't know. I spoke with Susan today and she was like maybe we can move it to 6ish and sounded pretty confident about it. But she called her boss and called me back and unfortunately she can not. Honestly, even it the party started at 8pm I feel it is a little better than 8:30 lol My mom said though that 8:30 on a friday night in the summer is really not that late and some people might leave early but others will party until the lights come on. I'm going to call tomorrow and beg even if it is just a little earlier to 8.

ya late..i know at weddings my parents have gone to, they would leave early if it was dragging on too long...dinner being served at 10 pm,,that wouldnt fly with a lot of people..even if they arent going home until 12 am-1 am.

Yeah, too late for a friday. I'm guessing that most people will be tired from working on that day. You are paying good money to have them there, do you really want them to leave early? If you are not set on that date why not choose another where you can start earlier? JMO good luck!

Re: Start Time of CH

The good news is that I spoke with Susan, one of the BM at CB, and explained that 8:30pm was just really late for us. Honestly, in the summer people might not be so so opposed but for our grandparents and older guests its a little late. Susan really has been great she called me on 2 seperate occasions to let me know what she can do for me. I know its her job but I really feel she is trying to work with me and make me happy. Lol soooo the good news is I can have the party from 7-12 in the Normandy room if I just guarantee a couple more people. So FH and I are going to go through our lists, our parents lists and hopefully I will be a CB bride for 8/5/2011! Lol thanks girls for everyone's insight and opinions!
