I just booked a few days ago for June 2016! I started looking in May a couple of weeks after I got engaged. March is definitely cheaper than Oct. most places consider Oct. prime wedding season and some venues considered March still to be winter.
I went to about 10 venues.. I'm in the process of moving back to LI and my quotes are there, so I could get those to you when I am back in a few days!! :)

Thank you and congrats to you too!! I'm super jealous you're already booked, btw! I didn't realize going into this that October was such a hot month but boy, now do I know! I'm thinking of either March or November as an alternative but it comes down to figuring out when weather on Long Island would be better. Thank you for the offer, I would love to see your quotes for the venues you visited!! Good luck with your move back :D

I wouldnt worry too much if you are flexible about your date. I got engaged last July and we booked the end of last August or September not too sure. We originally wanted September 6, 2015 and that was booked two years out so we ended up going with May 24,2015. It was a holiday weekend so thats probably why it was booked so far out. I'm planning from CT and I know its hard to coordinate appointments and stuff. I found it helpful calling the places that wouldn't give me a quote without seeing it and saying I was planning from out of state and only want to see places in our price range. Most of them were willing to give me a rough estimate (sometimes a range) of prices for that time of year. It definitely helped narrow down the places. Good Luck!
