Started Painting kitchen

Started Painting kitchen

Well Danielle and I bought paint for the kitchen the other day. We decided on Benjamin Moore Kitty Point green, I think its called. On the walls it looks like a Pistacio color. It is very cool, and relaxing.

I was only able to paint a few walls, because the big wall has a few holes that need to be patched. I also have to wait until the refrigerator is brought outside for special pickup and I need help in moving the stove out so I can paint behind it.

At Home Depot, in front of the paint center, Danielle found this cool tool that lets you paint all the edges. It is a little red plastic square that has a handle on the back that you can hold on to and a white pad on the front. You dip the white pad in the paint and then you Paint all the edges of the walls....All around the trim, whatever.....There are wheels on one end, and you run the pad along the top of the wall, side of the wall, and bottom of the wall. I only saw a little paint on the white trim. Not much though. I wiped the rest off with paper towel.

I washed the pad so I can re use it, but I think I will buy another one or two for the living room and bedroom.

There is one part of the kitchen im not sure about. I dont know if I should paint the area around the window white like all the trim will be or, the Pistacio color. Danielle says white, and now that the green is on the wall I think it would look better green.

I have a picture of the window for you to see...but no pictures of the green paint yet. I will take pics when its done.

Paint the wall green, paint the trim white.

I agree....painting the trim around the window white will make it stand out more....it looks lost in the cabinets

That's the exact color that we're thinking of for our bathroom. I can't wait to see what it looks like on your walls so that I have an idea of if it would for us. Post a pic when you get a chance

Re: Started Painting kitchen

The green we painted is more like a Pistaccio. Look below for sample of color. This is not my room though.

I'm still not finished with painting this room though. I wasnt able to do any work this past weekend, with Danielle's shower on Saturday, and the party at Danielle's parents house after. We were wiped out yesterday....But I will be working on it this week and this weekend. I will post pics when it is done. There is alot of holes to be filled and alot of sanding to be done, that is why its taking a long time.

Re: Started Painting kitchen

Yesterday my friend Neal came over and helped me finish the kitchen. He spackled all the holes that needed to be spackled and applied 2 coats of paint to the walls. It took a long time for the paint to dry because of the humidity yesterday. The floor in the apartment was wet....it was gross. We had the dehumidifier or but when we got to the apartment I noticed that someone had turned it off....I dont know why it was off.

The green looks amazing. All we have left to do is to paint all the trim white. I will do that on thursday. We moved the refrigerator so we could paint behind it and you wouldnt believe the dirt and the muck that I found under it. They must not of moved the refrig in 8 years....it was gross. We also moved the stove but couldnt pull it all the way out, because someone put the plug behind the cabinet...and there was no way of removing the stove without removing the cabinet. There was some yukky stuff behind there too. I painted behind the stove, and behind the splatter screen that is mounted on the wall, and then reinstalled the splatter screen.

It is so bright and cheery now in the kitchen. On thursday, I will do the finishing touches, and then Danielle is going to clean all the grout on the ceramic floor. I bet she is excited about that.

After the kitchen, I will have to finish the bathroom. I ordered all new chrome bathroom accessories. I am going to have to remove the ugly wood towel rack, toilet tissue rack, and hand towel rack from the walls, and spackle and paint over them. Then install the chrome ones in a better location.

After that we need to finish grouting the tub, and finish painting the trim, get a new toilet seat, paint the inside of the closet white, and then thoroughly clean the bathroom.

Where can I get a Blue Toilet seat? I cannot find one anywhere. Does Walmart sell them?

After the bathroom, We have to start working on the crawl space and the bedroom. Danielle's dad bought this thick water resistant paint that I have to apply to the crawl space and to the floor in the living room where the leak was. That should be fun, not!!

The living room will be last...That is going to be the fun room.

Re: Started Painting kitchen

It sounds like you have a plan!

Was the dehumidifier full or maybe off balance even a little? That would be a reason for it being off unless you suspect the landlord of coming in to cut electrical costs.

Re: Started Painting kitchen

Nah it was empty...and Its possible that someone turned it off by accident. The landlord aka Danielles parents are the ones that wanted it on all the time.
