We consider ours a starter however its not because of lack of space! When we were looking I thought to myself, if need be could I live here forever!

We have enough space a 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath high ranch w/ a lot of property for north jersey but we would like to buy a large colonial in a few years( 5-7 years from now).

If we have to stay here for longer for whatever reason we can always expand if we have to.

A lot of the houses DH and I have seen on the 'net have been described as 'starter' homes even though they have BIG price tags.

I hate moving so when we do buy I want to be there for a long time. If we see a house we can add on to that would be great. But down the line, I'd rather have a smaller house with more money in the bank for travel, etc., as opposed to trading up. Also, DH and I are both teachers so we're never going to be rich. Which is fine.

The house itself could be either, but I am of the mind that it is my FIRST home. It's plenty big for us and the neighborhood is great, but I want a newer house someday. Expanding, remodelling all options - but I LOVE change and I want to move a little more north (in Westchester.)

For B-We will not out grow this house. If we move out, it is only because we move out of state or something. We have no reason to leave.

Same here, house is plenty big for our needs (maybe a little too big, can't keep up with all the housework). And with all we have gone through with it, I could never imagine moving. Plus how would I move all the crap I've accumulated?

B for us. We definitely were looking for a house that we loved and met our needs for years and years to come.

Although we haven't found a house yet, I would say 'A.' The houses I like are out of our price range. However, I have heard from a lot of people as I talk about house hunting that they thought they would buy up, but never did. So we're looking for a house with expansion potential incase we never actually more. (but I think that we will )
