I have been out of the gym for a few weeks (okay a month or so...) and am noticing the spread already...
I decided to cut out carbs for a couple of weeks to jump start the diet- and hopefully get back with my awesome trainer
Just wanted to share- plus I will need some help!! (I am a carb addict!)
Any of you guys have tips? Or going through the same? TIA

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
Here is what I have been told (may or not be true, but sounds about right):
If you cut carbs out it 'jump-starts' your metabolism, forcing your body to burn stored fat. When you reintroduce carbs, it must be limited: ie. only whole grains, no carbs after 5pm, etc. Plus you may need to up cardio.
I hate those people who are supermodel-like without doing a thing!!

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
This is true with the carbs...Both my parents were recently diagnosed with Diabetes...Part of their diet was to cut the carbs & sugars...I have been following the diet with them bc I still live at home...It has been 2 months now & I dropped 11lbs...I had not been going to the gym religiously during this time but that just shows how much of a carb addict I was too!!
I have not been so strict the past 3 weeks with the limited sweets & still doing good...You feel so much better when you limit the carbs anyway...Good luck & if you ever need encourgagement, we are all right here with you!

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
Good morning girls.
I feel like there are 2 kinds of 'low carb' diets...the diets that prefer the carbs from fruits and veggies rather than a muffin or a bagel (which I what I like to do) and then there are the low carb diets that don't allow you to eat healthy foods like carrots and most fruits because they are high in sugar.
I really don't like any diet that categorically restricts an entire food group- I don't think that's healthy or realistic. I do try to go easy on the bread , but if i really want a delicious piece of french bread with butter on it, I'm gonna have it!!!
The bottom line is calories- no matter where they come from, if you eat more than you expend, you will gain weight. just my 2 cents
ETCorrect my poor spelling.
also, for breakfast, I am having coffee and spoon-sized shredded wheat (not the frosted kind)!!

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
I gave up on the gym, I have 2 little ones that I have to bring with me and I had to take time off because of pregnancy, (8 and 1/2 more weeks to go ) So I cancelled my members ship for now, But I plan to start again in July, if I find the strength and energy. I'm sure you'll do fine with your diet just have the will power and try not to eat after 7:00 p.m. that's one of my down falls I love midnight snacks.

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
I started my 'wedding diet' about a week ago and so far I've lost 3 pounds. I just made small changes. For me, snacking was my biggest downfall. So I try to have fruit every time I reached for a snack. I'm also drinking more water and exercising more than I was before. I havent' cut out carbs completely, but I'm trying to avoid pasta, rice and bread. I am having fruits and veggies, some of which have carbs, and I had a bran muffin for breakfast this morning. I'll allow myself carbs for breakfast but then avoid it like the plague for the rest of the day. Good luck!!!

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
I have been on WW since February... my mom and my FMIL are also doing it. I have gotten lazy about the points. I really want to lose 5 more lbs before my E-Party (I have already lost ten ) I also need to stop donating money to NYSc and get my a$$ over there...maybe tonight

It'll get easier after a couple of days. And once you start seeing the scale going down, you'll feel encouraged to continue!

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
I don't believe in cutting carbs out of your diet. Carbs are essential to healthy living, and new research is showing how important they are. Every article is saying how the carb-cutting craze is over. I even read an article yesterday about how white rice may have more nutritional value than brown rice. Like everything else, its about moderation. Too much of anything is a bad thing, but if you completely cut out the things you love, you're going to to crazy and wind up binge eating, which is worse than eating those things in small amounts.

Re: Starting my 'Wedding Diet'!!
I went on South Beach about 1 year ago and dropped a lot of weight (between 15 and 20 pounds) in the first two weeks. I gained a few of the pounds back, but I found that cutting carbs helped me because it was also cutting calories. I knew that I couldn't have bread for all of my meals so I ate better than I was eating before. I strayed from the diet and then had trouble going back. It was very restrictive and left me feeling light headed. I don't plan on going on a diet before the wedding, but I am exercising more than I have been.
