Starting to call florists...

and the first one I spoke to said to call back 3-4 months before the wedding??? Is that normal? That seems to really be last minute...

Re: Starting to call florists...

i have spoken with a few. One told me they would not even meet with me till 6 months before and said even that was too far.

I like to have things booked ahead of time so I scratched them off my list

That sounds strange to me too.... vendors are booking up now, so if you were to wait that long, most florists would probably be booked.

Most of the florists I've met at Wedding showcases say 9-10 months tops is what they like to work with....

Some of the florists I've met at bridal shows have said to come in 8-12 months in advance but you wont actually design anything unil 6-4 mos before the wedding. They have ALL said it doesnt hurt to come & look at their books & portfolios so you can decide who to go with & book them while their dates are open. As for the final designs you'll do I think they wait until you're a little closer so you don't change your mind.

I don't think it is normal. Is it a smaller shop or a bigger shop? That would make me nervous and think they do many weddings a day. What florist is it?

I ran into this problem too. But I'd rather be safe than sorry. The trick is to go to a florist that specializes in weddings. Good luck!!

He booked us early without a problem . . . He is very detail oriented and likes to give his clients as much time as possible . . .

Weird ...because one of the 'vendors' I was talking about in my post was J & R who told us 9-10 months before? Maybe its time of the year involved? Not sure...

Also a bigger vendor will book you early( wedding florist) MY cousin is getting married in DEC of this year and she is using a local florist and they STILL say its too early for her to book them..they said 3 months tops...

Re: Starting to call florists...

oh my Goodness....I wasn't planning on looking at florists until like January. When should I start?

Re: Starting to call florists...

I think January is fine. I am flower obsessed so the florist was the 2nd thing I booked! I know I am crazy!

i spoke to a florist (james cress) that said 5 or 6 mos before the affair is normal. I have since decided to use silk flowers but i thought that might help.
