Groovy, John & I paid everything, i mean everything and we are having a saturday night in May wedding which doesnt come too cheap.

Trust me, you will do it, especially if your parents will help.

Just save save save, don't go out to dinners alot, don't buy unless you NEED and you will be fine

I am having the same problem. I keep thinking I am going to need a second job to help pay for all of this b/c we already went overbudget with our hall - plus, I zombied out from stress when I heard the total price so I didn't ask any of the questions I intended to ask before signing so we will probably get SCR*WED in the end! Anyway, now the FH wants cut corners on EVERYTHING else and I have to fight him tooth and nail. So, yes! I am totally freaking out! Just wait till he hears what I am going to spend on a dress! I am just nervous beyond belief.

When you think about it, isn't it nuts that you have to do all this for one day? Get an extra job, change the way you live. It's just nuts!

Peg - I totally understand what you are going through. I too am FLIPPING out over it and I know I got a great deal on everything it still doesn't seem good enough. I'm praying that like 40 people decline for the wedding.

From what I've been told everything works out in the end so sit back, relax and let everything fall into place. You've done your best saving and sacrificing.....all will be ok.

If not.......rob a bank

November of 2004....you have time to save. I know, it's a lot easier said than done, but at least the wedding isn't this November.

Good Luck, and we're all here for you!

ask your parents up front what they are planning to give... I already knew what my parents were giving me and had my FI ask his parents so we knew our budget when we went out

Re: starting to freak out!

dont freak just keep to your budget.

FH and I decided how much $$ would be put away unitl wedding and we stuck with it.

We are even $2000 ahead of the game.

Figure out an amt and go from there.

Good luck

I found that having a very specific plan for how much money to put away each month, and how much you want to pay for your vendors helps a lot -if you stick to it.

Maybe if you looked at it piece by piece instead of one lump sum it might not be as frightening? I've had the nightmares about wedding $$ myself so I know how you feel!

Re: starting to freak out!

you are going to have to do with out the little things...spontaneous shopping...lunch and dinners out...etc...

also maybe you want to make a wedding account...put money in there (directly if you can) and NEVER take out any...unless its for a payment...

Re: starting to freak out!

I was freaking out at first, too. Neither FH or I are very well off, and we are paying for this thing ourselves. We planned a budget (we decided a minimum that must be put away each month) and have been sticking to it for about 4 months now. It ended up being a lot easier once we came to a firm number and stuck to it.

Now everything is counted in 'how many people at the wedding', for example... we have so far paid for us and 28 of our friends at the wedding! LOL, but we have a year and a half left to get the other 110-120 people in

every day we do the same thing - and one has to calm the other down...even though we are trying to be thrifty its just so much that i just don't want to start out in such debt!!!

Re: starting to freak out!

My FH and I are paying for everything ourselves too and last year I was freaking out as well...but we're two months away and the money is (almost) all there. It'll all work, you'll see, you have plenty of time.
