Ok so I am using a very close family friend for my flowers, she is new to the business but promises me my flowers will be incredible! Now I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to certain things especially my wedding and I am worried that she will not be able to interpret my vision! My Mom is going to help as well she is a horticulturist and master gardener and is incredible at pretty much everything having to do with flowers! However, my mom and I don't always see eye to eye on a lot of things and while I don't think for a second she would do anything other than what I ask for especially on my wedding day I am really starting to freak out a little bit! I also would feel terrible saying I have decided to go elsewhere bc the friend is super excited to be helping with such an important part of the day! Now you see my dilemna! WHAT DO I DOOO WAHHHH!!! Look elsewhere or just have a TON of pictures of exactly what I want to show her or what?!?! HELPPPPP!!!!

Has she made you a few samples? I would ask for that. If you don't like what you see, then you still have time to go elsewhere

Def ask her to put together different flowers arrangements 'til u can visually see what u had in mind for ur flowers, once that has happened, make sure to take pics from different angles so she can duplicate the the CPs exactly as the originals, def take advantage of ur mom, she seems very knowledgable regardings flowers and that's a BIG plus!

Does she have insurance, I know Fox Hollow told me that every vendor that we use has to have a 1million dollar insurance policy. This could be a way out of it for you.

I don't know...I have friends who have hired friends and relatives (who were professionals in their field) and it never worked out. I want my vendors to be strictly business relationships.

My florist is my cousin. I can't wait!! It's different though because she is very very good and well known in the florist community! So.....a little different than a new business. I am also a very relaxed bride. She is doing my flowers with only minimal imput. She wants to suprise me with the final look!

Like some girls have said before, I would ask her to make a couple of samples for u to look at. If its not what u want, don't be afraid to ask for changes. Most important, treat ur family friend like a vendor! No special treatment. Demand what u want and don't worry about hurting feelings because this is a business deal. Good luck!

Agreed w/ the other girls - ask her to make you a sample to take a look and that way if something is wrong, you can make it more of a workshop to get it right.

I agree, have her make samples and then decide. Thats how it works in the business, hopefully she understands.
