Stay away from Fancy Face on Bell Blvd. for children's clothes
I put off warning everyone about this store until I read the post about Adrienne's in Central Islip. I decided everyone should start announcing the businesses out there that are shady and are taking advantage of people.
This place looks like a big junk store from the outside anyway, and maybe you wouldn't even bother to go in, but it was recommended to us and there did seem to be a COUPLE of cute things in there.
We ordered a lovely linen-silk flower girl's dress with satin trim on the skirt on Feb. 7 and was told he would have it in two weeks. Well, between all the work for the shower, Easter preparations, and then the wedding we believed his repeated stories of 'two more weeks, I promise'. Late in April I called and lied saying the wedding was May 1 and I had to have the dress. Miraculously he said it would be in the following day and I should go pick it up. He supposedly opened the box in front of me for the first time, announced 'this is perfect - same as the one ordered, isn't it beautiful?' It was none of these. It was not the same dress, and not beautiful at all, but infact, a polyester-nylon dress with some embroidery that was downright cheap and tacky looking. The hem wasn't even turned under and finished properly. It had a raw edge with an over-stitch. I insisted on my deposit back and he said that I should take it because I won't find anything at this late date anyway. I laughed because at that time I did have more than two weeks!! Needless to say, I gave him a piece of my mind and demanded my money back. He wasn't even embarrassed for lieing and insisted it was beautiful. I went and found a gorgeous little dress from the store we bought the Bridemaid's dresses from - 'Here Comes the Bridemaid' in Great Neck. I can't recommend Irene there highly enough. She had a dress for us in 10 days and it was indeed beautiful! Plus, there was only a $15 price difference.
Let's not let stores like this go unnoticed. I think we need to let as many people know about them as possible. There are too many good, reputable shops around and these places don't deserve ANYONE'S business.
