STD cards

STD cards

Im going to start looking around for STD cards. I plan on mailing them out around the 1 year mark. Is that a good time? If I plan on sending 4 invitations to one family (like my aunt and uncle will get one and then each of my cousins will get their own invite) do i mail them each their own STD card? Also did everyone buy or make their own? I like the magnet idea how difficult was that?
thanks

Re: STD cards

I have a question about STD cards. Does everyone who is invited to the wedding get one? or just close family and friends?? How does it work?

Re: STD cards

i sent my STD's out at Xmas time for our 10/25 wedding. For households that were getting more than one invitation (like aunt & uncle and their adult child) i sent separate STD's. laura from LA Productions (a vendor on this site) did them for us. i'm still getting compliments! you can probably do them yourself, but for what it cost (about $1 each), i left the details to someone else.

good luck!!

Re: STD cards

I made our STD cards, and mailed them out in January for our August 30th wedding. Since we have a lot of out of town guests coming in for the wedding, I put in a lot of information. The inside is layered, with info on accomadations, travel (train/plane info) and details on the wedding. They were a big hit w. our guests. We had our main guest list put together early, and if the guest was a 'maybe' we did not send them a STD.

Re: STD cards

We sent ours out a year in advance, since our wedding is on a holiday weekend and we wanted to give people plenty of time to plan We sent them to everyone on the list. For the ones where there were multiple invites going to the house, we sent only one STD addressed to The Jones Family.

Ours were more like a newsletter. The first page was a picture of us dressed like the Statue of Liberty & Uncle Sam, and it said:
We want you to come to our wedding!

The next page had the info on travelling to LI, hotels, where to get tourist info about LI, our contact info, etc.

I made my own. I don't have an actual picture - but here is a picture of what I copied. I used navy print and navy/white gingham ribbon:

Re: STD cards

Sonicstef made mine and they came out amazing. I sent them out six months ahead of time with hotel and travel info as 90% of my guests are OOT.

As far as sending to people living at the same address, I just put 'The XXX Family' for the STDs(all adult children - we're not having anyone under 21 at the wedding). But for the invitations I will send them each their own - I just figured this was a little less formal.
