So I'm going to be ordering my STD's in the next week or so, and in trying to figure out how many I need, I have a few questions.
1. I have a few cases where there are young adult or college age cousins still living at home with their parents. Since they're over 18 I plan on sending them individual invitations (even if it means one house gets like 6 invites). So do I send them all individual STD's as well? Or since they're more informal can I just do 'The Smith Family'?
2. If you're planning on inviting people with a guest, are you putting the guest's name on the STD's, or just the person you actually know? I have quite a few people in loooong relationships (some longer than FH and I lol) and I'm fairly certain they'll still be together by my wedding. I don't know if I put the significant other on the STD, or just my friend/cousin/whomever.
Thank you ladies, as always!

I think you should put and guest on save the date. That's the etiquette I believe. And it's nice if you put the other persons name in the long term relationship on the std. If not that, then I would definitely put it on the invite.

For most people, I did put 'The Smith Family' but certain people I gave their own STD. I did not put '& guest' on the invite, even tho they will be. I guess I figured they would know, or they will find out!

Sending one STD per family is fine. As far as etiquette goes, '& guest' should never be on the outer envelope of anything. Personally, I did not put '& guest' on mine, but did include the names of long term significant others. It's totally up to you though. STDs are pretty informal.

When I sent our STD's and I had the intention to invite more than one or two people in the household I just sent it for the whole family (we sent out magnets so no point of giving everyone in the household magnets). For an individual with a guest or an unmarried couple I included both names. HTH!

i only sent one per house, and anyone with a gf/bf that wasnt something serious. i didnt include a date. there is always a chance they will break up and if your not planning on inviting everyone +guest then you dont have to worry about it come time to send invits.
from the time we sent out std to the time we sent out our invites, 4 people broke up with their gf/bf and 2 couples got a divorce.

I am just sending one per household. I am also not writing and guest. I will write and guest on the formal invitation though.

Re: STD Etiquette
ps...i plan to send one per household if the whole family is invited...but we have a no kids policy at the wedding so certain invites will only be addressed to the mother/father/appropriate guests...we do have a few people who are in college and in the bridal party so they may get separate STDs at their current adresses...i am not writing and guest on the STD...because really, i don't care if their guest reserves the date, it's really just for MY guest to do so...hahaha
