I would say no. I got so many people asking me if those were my wedding invites I said no they're save the dates and they go and ask... whats that?

I printed them from Kodakgallery.

we had quite a few OOT guests to notify.

I didn't send to everyone, and they probably weren't 100% necessary since our engagement was only 9 months.

I made post card ones on wedding paper divas, and so many people commented in how much they loved them....but, I don't know that I'd do them for everyone again. If I could go back, I'd probably only do them for immediate family and closest friends....

I will def be sending save the dates because 1. i have alot of oot guests and 2. my wedding is in the summer and i'm worried ppl might book vacations my wedding weekend. i'd suggest putting 'formal invitation to follow' and you can even add a link to a wedding website for guests (which will have hotel accomodations for my oot'ers)
im attempting DIY save the dates this week-i hope they turn out well!!

I would send them personally...especially for those out of town so they can start planning ahead. They also make a nice momento

You can still send STD's out. I liked sending them out to give everyone a heads up especially since its on a friday.

We're sending STDs but not to everyone only to people that we really want to be there (Family & very close friends)

Not doing them at this point even though it is the Saturday after July 4th.

Not sure if this is a smart decision or not, but just putting a guest list together has been a hassle.
