So, what is everyone's feelings on the STDs matching the invites?
I'm at the 10-month mark as of yesterday, and realize most people sent out STDs by now (EEKS!)
I have probably 70 - 80 percent of my guest list invited from other states and countries (Florida, PA, California, Oregon, Washignton State, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica to name a few).
My one Maid of Honor is personally doing our invites. She's a graphic designer who has done wedding invites before- and just hit me for all the information she needs (style, inspiration, size, color/black and white printing) the other night. She'll be doing our invites, RSVP cards, seating cards and program.
However, she doesn't have time to do our STDs so quickly.
Do I need to match my colors exactly? (Exact shade of red hasn't been picked yet - waiting bridesmaids thoughts on potential dresses).
Do I just need to keep the same overall feeling or theme?
Our engagement photo shoot isn't until Aug. 25 - so I won't have photos until say mid-September at earliest. That's 8 months out. Should I just wait?

Your STDs def do not have to match your invites unless you want them to.
I see you have a lot of OOT guests and sometimes beacuse of that STDs are mailed out very early. I am assuming most of your guest know about your wedding already though?
If you want to use your photos from your eshoot and have your STDs sent out around youur 8 month mark, imo is still plently of time and notice so try not to stress too much about it.
Try browsing some sites and you might find something u like or a layout you would like if you decide to use your ephotos.

you could either wait, or go ahead and order from a different outlet as long as you keep with the overall theme i dont think it has to match at alllllll! hth

agree!! I am doing my STD as xmas cards since that would be 1 year mark!

Honestly mine aren't going to match exactly, but the overall theme will be similar. I think you can do whatever you want. I've seen it both ways with everything matching exactly and with the STD and invites being completely different. I think it is a personal preference, and it also depends on how far you want to go and how strict you are going to be with your theme and color scheme.

Mine do not match exactly, but are in the same family of colors. Don't stress, I had a friend who only sent them out like 6 months before.

At first i tried to get my STDS to match my invites but it was too difficult finding one and then my picture clashed so I just did a cute one. Whatever you want to do is fine!

I don't think they need to match! Maybe coordinate a bit with color or style... but nothing crazy! Since you have a lot of OOT guests, I suggest starting to think about what you want. I sent mine out at the 9 month mark, and I think its plenty of time! Any time before 7 months is a safe bet!

I was originally going to have them match, but then saw really fun ones on Etsy that I think reflect the vibe we're going for.
Also, we never did an engagement shoot or anything, so our STD's won't have any kind of picture on them, just the wording and design. We will have them coordinate with our colors though.

ours wont match, but they matched engagement party invites (semi randomly, but really because both vistaprint)

Mine don't match at all. Our StD have our pics as kids but our invites match our theme/colors. but we have ways to ties in our StD theme as well at the wedding.
I wouldn't worry too much about it! No one else will prob pay attention to the details as much as you put into it anyway
