STESSED...please give me advice!

STESSED...please give me advice!

FH and I just booked our hall yesterday. And today we found out there will be another wedding there at the same time. That's not great, but whatever. But then I realized there's only one bridal suite--and it's on the floor where my wedding will be (the other wedding is downstairs). BUT the hall says since they booked before us, they get the bridal suite.

They'll set up a bridal suite for me, too. I'm not sure it will be as nice since it seems like they're just going to throw it together. But the bigger issue is that it seems like there's going to be another bride and her bridal party getting ready and hanging around in the suite on our floor during our wedding! We're using the entire floor except for that. And the people at the hall don't seem to get it that I really don't want some other bride and groom wandering around in my wedding. Am I totally overreacting? Is this a big deal or not?

VERY BIG DEAl.................JMO..........i think places that do more than one weding at a time have a responsibility to make each bride 'feel' like she is the only bride there.........that was a big deal for me when I booked my hall.........

JMO- i would have asked that before i booked the place
that is a very big deal to me
you don't want another bride on your floor
maybe you should express this to them that you have the floor so why should another bride be allowed up there while my party is there

i would be mad too. how can they only have 1 bridal suite? doesn't make sense if they have more then one affair at a time.

I would try to reason with the hall that since your wedding will require the use of the entire floor, they should 'throw something together' for the other couple on their floor.

JMO- i would have asked that before i booked the place

i wanted 1 wedding (my wedding) only at the place... thats it
i cut my search down tremendously because of that

That 'advice' doesn't really help her now.

I would continue to express your concerns and make sure they meet your needs to your satisfaction. Good luck...

That is so wrong!! I would be flipping out!! they should have told you that before you booked!!!!!! my hall has two weddings at a time.. im not so crazy about it but they have a bridal suite and I have mine.

I wouldnt like that at all!! Do you get a bridal suite at yoru hotel? Could you get ready there? I wouldcontact teh head manager as high up as you can go and see if they can't work something out to make you happy! Chances are that other bride doesnt want to be hangin out with you too!

I know, we should have asked it beforehand! But when we saw the place, they showed us the bridal suite and they just never mentioned that it wouldn't be part of the deal, so we never thought about it until too late. It seems like they don't have space downstairs to even 'throw together' a separate suite for the other bride, so if they kicked her out of the bridal suite, she'd probably end up in a different space on our floor anyway.

I bet she'll be really pissed, too, when she finds out she'll be in the middle of my giant wedding.

The thing is, this is all so recent and we're in California so we had to send our deposit. They don't actually have it in their hands yet and we could stop the check. I just can't figure out if it's a dealbreaker for me or not.

JMO-- if you are stressed out right now about it.. the best thing to do is stop the check and think about it for a day or too

you want your wedding to be stress free
i don't think 1 - 2 days will amke a difference in booking

that was w4rong of them not to let you know that there would be a nother bride in that suite

i am sorry you are going through this but if it is stressing you out now..think about what it will be like at your wedding

I think you should stop the check and think about it for a day or 2 too. That would be a very big deal to me too. What are they going to through together for you? If a place has 2 weddings at the same time they should have 2 bridal suites.

I would not be happy about this at all. It probably would be a deal breaker for me. Simply because they didn't tell you about it before hand. Having two weddings in one facility is not a big deal to me but seeing the other bride i n my space is.

I would stop the check and really consider if it would be upsetting to you.

Good Luck

No you are not over-reacting at all! I would be really upset. I would ask to see what the bridal suite that they are 'making you' before the big day for sure. Sorry...

Definitely stop the check and reconsider your decision!

And request that they e-mail you pics (since you will be out of town) of the 'bridal suite' they will arrange for you! A catering hall is sooooo much $$$$$ and they should have been more up front with you in the first place!!! I would bring up that you didn't appreciate their dishonesty also!

You should also use this to negotiate money off the price. Say the price you were quoted included the traditional bridal suite. Now that isn't included and you would like a discount!

Honestly, I think I was in my bridal suite for all of 15 minutes combined during the whole reception. You booked a beautiful place and I'm sure your not really gonna think about it on your wedding day...you'll have so much going on-your bridal suite is the least of your concerns.
good luck!

You're not overreacting by being upset. Your hall should have made it clear to you that the suite would not be available for your wedding day. However, you can't expect them to take the suite away from a bride who has already booked and been promised that room. As long as there's a bathrrom on the other brides floor, it's very possible that she won't even use the suite that much, but I would be very upset about the hall's sneakiness. I'm guessing that since you're booking now for this October that you've had a hard time finding a place with availability, so you may just have to cut your losses on this one.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think I'll see my bridal suite for more than 15 min either. Myself and my bridal party are going to be at my entire cocktail hour and maybe I'll pop up in there before the reception starts and before we're announced...
but I wouldn't sweat that at all. There are so many other things that will be going on, and you'll be in such a whirlwind, you won't even notice.
