Stewart manor

Hi, I'm new to the site and in the planning stages for my 10/04 wedding. Does anyone recommend using Stewart Manor in Garden City for the reception? I have never been there. Also, does anyone know of another place in Garden City call Chateau something? Thaks for your help. --martha

Hi and welcome!

I've been to Stewart Manor. We didn't go with it b/c we want an outdoor ceremony and they did not have a secluded ceremony location. My favorite part was the ballroom - it was a very nice size with a dance floor in the middle, a big pretty fireplace at one end and a stage for the band at the other end. The banquet manager is James and he's a really great guy. Their prices are very good too. (One wedding at a time.)

I think that the other place you are referring to is the Chateau Briande. My company has held meetings and parties there. It is more fancy than Stewart Manor, with almost an art deco style to it. The food is good. They hold more than 1 function at a time.

Everyone will have a different opinion, your best bet is to check them out with your fiance and choose whatever you like best!

Best of luck to you!

ETA: If you want something different and cozy you should check out the Riviera . It's a big old house that is right on the water. They hold one wedding at a time.

I have a tasting scheduled there for tomorrow. My FI and I love the place. We have been working w/James and he is great. If all goes well tomorrow we are going to book w/them. I have heard nothing but good things about them.

I was looking for a place like the Stewart Manor so it is perfect for us. Everyone is different so it depends on what you want in a reception hall.

Thanks! What a cute kitty!! (I have cats too) I was told that Stewart is like a big house and that sounded really cute and cozy to me. Something different from the usual country club type of place. I want to do something different - I am not too familiar with LI, but my fiance is from there. I just wanted to make sure that's it's nice for a wedding - and not TOO cozy or homey and also most important - that the food is good!

I am going to bump for you. there were a few brides here who did have reception there and I found all good reviews. the ballroom is great, and it's perfect for a cozy reception. My FSIL went to wedding there and I was told the quality and amount of food was incredible.

I only know prices for september sunday's $65pp (labor day weekend)

I had my wedding there and LOVED it. They are so great & the food is yummy. Everyone of our guests raved about it. MY husband & I picked it after my best friend got married there. (We weren't even engaged yet but, we both said if we get married this will be the place!)
Good Luck with all your planning!!

We looke dat it and thought it was really cozy. The only reason we didn't pick it is because it was too small for our size wedding.

Thanks! What a cutie! (your son i assume) He looks like little irish firsherman :) I will have to check out Stewart Manor. If it's a house - where does everyone park? Is there a parking lot? I predict i will have about 100 people. --Martha

Theres a large sized parking lot behind the hall. I get to see Stewart Manor everyday on my way to and from work. I live on the Hempstead LIRR line. The train stops just after the SMCC at the (obviously) Stewart Manor stop.

I loved that it had two fireplaces.. warm colors, nice wood floor, the add-ons in the price, James being so very easy to work with and for 100 less it's just cozy enough. I plan to have around 50-75 ppl. So Im worried about too much space.

OH and I loved the skylights and ceiling beams.

Re: Stewart manor

Its not a house per say, they have valet parking and the building is actually nestled in a lovely residential area

my FH said they filmed 2-weeks notice with Sandra Bullock there. I did not notice, but he said it was the country club on long island where they played tennis at. I was surprised he noticed that.

I didn't want to book until we tasted the food. My dad is very picky and I didn't want to hear him complain.

My FI called and James was fine with it. I'll let you know how it is.

Update.. We had our tasting and it was excellent. James set up a table for us and brought out four separate plates of food to sample. The food was great, Esp the eggplant and the Penne ala Vodka. To make a long story short it was great and we decided to book.

The eggplant is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, ask them what other foods can be made. I asked if this was all the food they have on the menu they gave me. And James ended up telling me a few more (for cocktail hour). One being Arroz Con Pollo (chicken & rice) which we had & it was yummy.
We also asked them if the can make Shepards Pie. Which they did & from what I heard it was fantastic.
