still between two venues...

still between two venues...

sooo just another rant about my indecisions....we pretty much narrowed the venues down to the royalton mansion and the woodlands...we fell in love with the royalton when we were there except they are about 5,000 more expensive and i would want to take my pictures elsewhere...also if it rains, i'll have to tent the outside patio for 1800 because we won't all fit in the inside, i don't think..annnd i have to use their florist or pay a bond fee (1500).....but the room is white and blank so i can do any colors without issues, i can totally customize my entire menu and it has the total look i'm going for...

however, the woodlands is also verry pretty...the cocktail hour rooms are much bigger plus the outside so if it rains no problem because of the extra space and it's cheaper so i could probably without a doubt some some little extras like getting a photobooth...they don't however print menu cards/napkins or towels which the royalton does, you have to choose from a menu (which isn't bad by any means, just not custom), and the room is a little dated so i'd have to do chair covers and i'm worried about my colors...but the grounds are gorgeous, no need for offsite photos after the church...

crashing... Use this towards your negotiating! Tell them you have it down to two and want them but you need them to work with you a little more and see if it is doable? Worth a shot. Good luck! I almost went with the Royalton. LOVED it!

If it were my decision I'd go with the Woodlands. $5000 is a huge chunk of $$ that can be used towards other things. Then to worry about the what ifs like rain and spending even MORE $$ would just drive me nuts! I picked my RH so I could do everything in one location.. even pix. Menus and your paper items are easy and cheap DIY projects so I wouldn't worry about them not providing that.

Which ever you decide just make sure you will love it and decide if the 'cons' are something you can deal with, that won't drive you nuts or broke over time..

Good Luck with your decision!

woodlands knows i'm between them and the royalton and in fact one of the managers used to work there and what i found amazing was that he had nothing bad to say about the royalton...he was like it's a great place and you'll get everything they promise you...he was like '...buuuut i want your business...' and was willing to try and do good by us....

it sucks because each venue is good for it's own reasons...but we keep going back to the royalton...it's just the price that is making me nervous...plus all the little extra fees like a tent if it rains, having to take pictures elsewhere...

you're right...5,000 is a lot of money...and it would allow me to use that money for a variety of different things like chair covers, photo booths, printing of paper goods that the other place offered...

i was literally driving home tonight talking to FH and i was like i def think we should do the royalton...and now i've changed my mind again back to woodlands...

It does look like a mansion!

I personally did not get prices but I know other brides were approx $130-$150pp and up from there, depending. I just can't believe how nice the pictures look.

It's beautiful!

But will the Royalton work with you if you call them and tell them your thoughts? Maybe they will lower their price and then it seems like you know what you want. I went to an event there and it was amazing. I know the woodlands is nice too though so it is definitely a tough decision. If Royalton comes down it seems like that is the place for you and if they don't then Woodlands will be amazing too.

Definitely use it towards your negotiating and if you don't love one more than the other--than go for the one that is less expensive--you could always use that money elsewhere!

Re: still between two venues...

the second time i went back to royalton when it was between there and deserversky (before i really crunched numbers against guest list), royalton was not willing to budge on price at all and deseversky definitely offered more...when i called and asked about a few extra dates after the second meeting, he said the only way he might be able to work with me was to gurantee more then 175 people, which makes me nervous even though my guest list right now is near 225..

Crashing...

If you're inviting 225 you will not have a problem fitting everyone at the Royalton bc I'd be shocked if you end up with over 200. You would most likely end up in the 180-190 range or even less. My best friend got married there in April and had about 180 ppl and there was plenty of room. They should definitely negotiate with you if you are having that many guests.

I looked at the Woodlands for my wedding and wasn't impressed. However, I LOVED the Royalton. My best friend's wedding was amazing (I was her MOH). They took care of us all day - we got ready there.
