Still confused....(tip question help!)

About Tipping! have read a lot of threads, but am so unsure of who to tip at the wedding (I am already tipping hair/makeup).

maitre' D: is $400 enough for a wedding of 170 people? I am not sure if I have a bridal attendent, if I did, I would tip her about $100.

photographers assistant : probably around $25

I wasn't planning on tipping the photographer and videographer (no assistant) b/c they both own the business.

What about the band?? There are 8 people in it, how am I suppose to tip all of them?

Am I being cheap? I have already spent SOOOO much money on these people....what am I missing?

That is a good question. I do know that if you do this before the wedding day you will not over tip
Get a bunch of envelopes and label them with the maitre'd, DJ, Limo, etc. Divy up the tips before that day of. Also have an envelope with extra $$ in case you want to add or dip for better or worse service. It will save you in th overtipping. She was so happy she did that.

Here's what I heard:

$2-$3 per person is the Maitre D tip - so for 170, the tip should be between $340 and $510. $400 sounds like it's right in there!

For the bridal attendant - when I checked out VYC, my FMIL asked the woman showing us around what the right tip would be - she said it's discretionary, but around $125 - $150 would be considered a 'good tip.'

As far as the band members...I'm actually not sure about that.
