WOW that is a Lot!!! It can be used for a downpayment. Even at avg cost of 25K youre paying 1.50 for every second. its crazyyy!! my friend spent 80 K and she regretted it soo much!

We're trying to keep it under $40k. . . . It kills me that I'm spending this much, I couldn't imagine spending more.

I'm spending what ever it costs to get married at Town Hall
I can't bear the thought of spending all that money on one day. FH and I are already homeowners and decided to use a 'wedding budget' to renovate the kitchen and all the bathrooms!

I so agree with you... I tried to convince my fiance to do a small wedding or just a destination wedding but he said that to many of his family members would be upset over it. So of course there went the house.

Isn't the average cost of a wedding in the NYC area somewhere between $30,000 and $40,000? According to the current poll, LIW brides are about average in that respect.

I had the same issue but you should stand your ground and do what YOU want. This may sound a bit rude but who cares about what your family members think?
It should be about you and dh. If your family wants a party they can have and pay for their own party!

My grand total price of what we are paying is: $15,354.29
That price does not include flowers (my parents), part of the video (my parents), my dress, bra, tiara, veil (my mom) and part of the rehearsal dinner (his parents).

70k???????????????? wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! i tried not to go over 20K...so far we are at 22K for everything still have a few things to buy so maybe we will hit 24 IF THAT!!

I read the average NY wedding costs 35-40 K
i cant imagine paying that!!! my bprother is having a 50K wedding i dont know how he is doing it!

I just got back from checking out a venue and I am sick because when all is said and done with the reception hall only, it's going to cost me over 50K. I wasnt planning on spending that much and I know my parents werent either. I'm going to have to go around to other sites to compare prices. I know alot of people try to make money on their wedding and I kind of knew with the type of wedding I wanted, I was going to lose money but I wasnt prepared to lose this much.
