Well, he is not a typical romantic
But one year he gave me my birthday present.
it turned out to be a 13 day trip to Paris with him. I was beside myself

um well my engagement - total surprise, like i always wanted it
then for my birthday last year he surprised me with dinner at Ruth's Chris and a night at the Garden City Hotel ( where we will spend our wedding night!) he only told me about it that day so i could pack a bag - it was awesome!

Well FH isnt really the romantic type and this is probably not what most would consider romantic but I would have to say the way he was there for me when my father passed away. It was very unexpected and traumatic and he was really my rock through it all. Even since then, he has really been there for my mother and brother as well, and after that, it was pretty much like he was already my husband. My family and I were very lucky to have had him in our lives during that time!

For our first valentine's day together he sent me on a treasure hunt. He wrote out the clues in poem form and asked my dad if he'd drive me to the locations. I ended up at Build a Bear and he had the voice chip waiting behind the counter. All the girls there were really excited that i was there bc he set it up in advance. the last clue was the bear saying it was hungry and to go to the Olive Garden. When i got there he was holding roses and at dinner he gave me jewlery.
He proposed at Midnight on New Year's Eve which was really sweet. It was TOTAL surprise, i didnt think he'd propose for at least another year. He said something was missing and he wanted to start the new year off right and he got down on his knee. I had the flu and he brought me tissues and ice cream and festive hats and everything.
He also used to call me to play Billy Joel's Lullabye over the phone at night when i couldnt sleep

Then at the corner I hop out and get some City food: dirty water dogs, a pretzel and some chestnuts. then i get BACK in the car ( which usually hasnt moved more than a block) and we go home. he is definitely the guy for me

ha ha i have to PROMISE rob that once we get to the city to get him a dirty water dog... its his ONLY favorite thing about NYC!!!
im trying to think of others... but i think something else romtantic is when we are left alone in one of our houses...
we cook for eachother, clean, and eat together like a little family... i think its the sweetest most confortable thing and romantic for me.

besides our engagement the most romantic things FH has done for me is...
when he would sent me cards just for the heck of it and they would tell me how he feels about me and misses me...he has done it ever since we started dating since we have always been apart with him in the Marine Corps...
he better continue this throughout when he is in Japan haha

Fh isnt the most romantic man in the world...but he does so many meaningful things....I love to spoil FH and my kids yet have a very hard time doing for me...we had been in the mall about 2 months before christmas and I feel in love with a bag in the coach store so much I almost bought it for me but decided not too......on christmas eve we gave eachother one gift.....he handed me a box and said....' You spoil me and the kids...you take care of us and give us 120 percent of you all the time. so now I get to spoil you.' it was my coach bag....it wasnt the gift but what he said~~~

so many..... this last xmas season we were so busy and i complained and complained about not having a christmas tree or any decorations up in our apt, and fh thinks decorating is tacky and pointless, yadda, anyhoo.... i was having a really bad day at work and pmsing....and when i got home late that night i walked in and dinner was on a candlelit table and there was a tree all decorated and lit up with little gifts of chocolate underneath....

He proposed on Valentine's Day of '06 and that's been it. He doesn't get me flowers or cards for ocassions.

well besides the engagement:
my favorite thing he does is write me beautiful letters and cards, that means so much to me
another thing is one weekend we went up to his house in the poconos, and i had once mentioned when we first started seeing eachother that i never had one of those romantic type moments with candles everywhere and rose petals, guess he remembered bc he told me to wait in the living room he'll be right back...then he came out and brought me into the bedroom and he had candles set up all over the room and rose petals on the bed and he made the petals in a heart shape and he also wrote a letter and gave that to me to read first
also i had said one time how movies like a walk to remember are such BS guys dont do things like that and dont act like that lol, so he named a star after me the way the guy did in the movie and actually gave that to me after he proposed

Ahhh!!! It's sooo sweet to read all the romantic things your fh's have done.
My fh loves to cook, so I told him I like coconut shrimp. One day when I came back from visiting family he made me coconut shrimp from scratch, i thought that was romantic.

ITS FUNNY bc one of my favorite romantic moments wasnt something planned, well on my end it was but what he did wasnt planned lol
he went to philly for 4 days and it was the first time we were apart from eachother for that long. Well he came back on a sunday night and they left philly late so he called to tell me that he would like for me to meet him at his house when he gets back but that it will be past midnight so he would understand if i couldn't...i told him its late and that i'll just see him tomorrow. Well i got ready, went and bought a card and wrote a little something and bought this little stuffed toy and then parked up the block so he wouldn't see me when he got there. Now he usually goes in through the back and wasn't sure which was he was gonna come from, so just was hoping he'd come in through the front.
Anyways, im sitting in the car just waiting and looking at every car coming down the block. Well FH calls me and says he is home, and like WHAT no you're not, hes like OMG yes i am do you think im lying to you, then i said oh did you go in through the back and he said yes why what are you talking about. I said ahhhh im outside, but i was all the way down the block, he lives by the corner i was on the other end of the block. Well he comes RUNNING towards me so quickly, i actually got scared that he was gonna knock me down lol so i just stood there and then he picked me up and hugged me, and also carried me back to his house...i dont know it was just a real sweet moment

ditto! Aren't we lucky? Handsome, sexy, smart, funny men - and romantic to boot?
I always compare Alfonse to a fully loaded car - he's got everything going for him!
