Stomach virus (UPDATED!)

Any one have a really weird stomach virus lately where you actually don't get sick but double over in pain? My brother and I are both home sick today and he's got it so bad that he can barely walk and keeps spiking really high fevers. Luckily I haven't gotten a fever yet but just feel so yucky. My mom is concerned for him that he's got appendicitis. I think it's just a little coincidental that we both have it. Seems like a virus to me. Was wondering if any one had any thing like this!! I just wish it would go away. I feel so yucky and dont' want this to ruin my weekend plans!! It's bad enough that I had to leave work and most likely wont' work tomorrow!! Just venting!

Just wanted to let you girls know that my brother ended up having appendicitis and ran into complications during his 2 in the morning operation. Before they even opened him up, his appendix burst and the poison has run throughout his whole body. My mom called a little while ago to say that they are now pumping his stomach and he's so sick. I feel so bad for him. He won't be out of the hospital until at least Monday..if not longer. They originally thought he perforated his bowels but that wasn't the case. The poor kid is a mess. Me on the other hand with my stomach issues...I'm feeling better today, thank goodness. Now I'm just a nervous wreck for my bro!! I'll keep you girls updated. Thanks for all the well wishes!

I know that there is a stomach virus going around...everyone in my house has had it, and I know many others who have all within the past week or so.
DH and I both had high fevers, but we were also vomitting...maybe it's just in a different form...?

DF and I had not felt well stomach wise this week either and I just found out that bacteria was inadvertantly leaked into the NYC water supply. That may be what is bothering you. See here:

Thanks for all of the help girls. As we speak, my brother is in the hospital. My mom called our family doctor and they feel that he has too many symptoms describing appendicitis. The doctor didn't want him to wait so my parents just brought him over. The doctor seems to think by freak chance I must have a similar virus. But we shall see what happens. It's too weird that we both have symptoms quite the same. However my poor bro can't walk and has constant pain on his right side. I just have pain throughout my whole stomach. I'm able to eat, and he can't. I'll keep you all posted. Hope all turns out well. He turns 20 on Sunday and we were supposed to have a party for him!!

Hope you both feel better!! If he does have to have his appendix removed, he should be ok by Sunday if they do the surgery laproscopicly. They only have to make the tiny holes!! Hope all turns out well. Keep us posted!! Could be the gall bladder as well. I had a horrible constant pain in my whole stomach and chest area, where I was doubled over in pain and they had to call an ambulance because I couldn't move.

Oh no.....my prayers are with him for a speedy recovery..I'm just glad your family got him to the hospital when they did. Good Luck

Sorry to hear that he's feeling so sick. At least he was in the hospital when it burst though and they were able to treat it right away
