I can't get the news because I'm at work and our websites are blocked but I heard there is a gunman loose on the stonybrook campus? Did anyone hear anything?
I heard something on the radio....people are nuts!!!!
a girl in '09 posted that he held up one of the cafeterias for a slice of pizza??? that's all i know.
I work at the hospital. Campus went under lock down and emails went out via paiger and text. It was a black guy wearing a black coat that left the cafeteria and headed towards Herriman(?) Bldg and was not caught. That is not the first incident of a gun taking visitor. A few years back a man held the burn unit hostage because he was mad that his aunt was burned during a simple procedure at Peconic. She ended up dying and he was jailed and committed suicide. We were under a total lock down for hours, it was right down the hall from where I work. There is minimal security.
omigod!! i have classes there on tues and thursdays... i didnt get any texts!! im really worried now!!!!!!!! and yes, there is no security on that campus, ive seen 2 police officers ONCE since the beginning of this semester and it was 9.30pm or so. things like this freak me out... it just goes to show you things like this can happen anywhere =(
Some of the security guards are so old and frail looking that I really don't know how much help they are.
