Stopping the Pill/Baby time..

Stopping the Pill/Baby time..

So I have been on Birth control for about 15 years now and my last month on it will be my wedding month. I'm just looking to see from others who know what its like.. I don't even remember! Longer Periods? more cramps? Am I going to miss the pill? lol I'm partly hoping to get pregnant as soon as possible due to our ages (32 me, 44 him)and the fact that he already has 2 fully grown children and I hate the age gap there will be as it is. Part of me wants to wait though as we JUST moved in together in a new place and things are so awesome and we are just settling into this life. So torn, so confused. I hear it could take a long time to conceive after so long on the pill but then I hear it can happen right away. I wonder how it will go!

actually you are MOST fertile after stopping the pill..may take a month or two to even get a period.
I am with you, we are looking at honeymoon baby, I have 2 children and he has none...due to my age we need to actually start now lol but we will wait until the wedding. Your age is fine, 32 is a great age to have babies!!

I so wouldn't want a honeymoon baby but my age I cant afford to wait another minute and its a risk waiting. If I was 31 I would wait a year :) lol but that's me being selfish lol

Yea that's how I'm thinking lately.. but I'm also afraid FH will want a baby less the longer we wait due to HIS age. He's been there done that twice now and they are 20 and 21. I feel bad for him being id 40's and starting again but I need this. I always wanted right away but now I really do want some time alone with him in our place.

Soooo, I was on the pill for yeearrssss and I wasn't happy with the one I was on, so I called my Dr to make an appt to maybe change to another, do something different, etc. He called me to reschedule the appt because it was a Jewish holiday and then I had to reschedule the next appt because I had gotten my period. By the time my appt rolled around... too late for birth control. LOL! Now we have a 7 year old and no plans for any more. Most people do marriage, house, baby. We did baby, house, marriage. So NOW we're at the stage where we want to enjoy being married and our daughter is old enough for fun sleepovers at grandmas so we can be alone!
Bottom line, it's more likely you'll get pregnant fresh off the pill.

I want a honeymoon baby too!! Not sure if this is true for all women but my Doctor advised me to use other methods of birth control (condoms) for at least 2 months when i get off birth control so my body resets back to normal. He said there's a higher risk for miscarriage after coming off b.c. because the lining of your uterus isn't used to forming without the help of hormones (orrrrrrrr something along those lines). So i'm gonna try to be patient and wait a few months but really hoping we can get started as soon as possible

I've been on and off the pill. When I went off the pill, it took me 2 months to get a period, and I had the worst cramps for 3 weeks prior.

I have a friend who went off the pill and got pregnant right away, and I have a friend who went off the pill and it took her a year to get pregnant. It really depends on your body, and when it decides to ovulate. I would speak to your doctor just so you're prepared. I've heard it's easier to get pregnant right off the pill, I've heard it's a bad idea and let your body regulate first, and everything in between.

Oh good to hear others have heard this too! I always hear of people getting preggie right off the pill, I was slightly worried I'd be missing a good window of opportunity lol

I was on the pill for 15 years too I went off it like 2 years ago but my periods are still like I on the pill, very regular, 3-4 days and no cramps. I'm working on baby, and I think it's funny how you spend your life trying not to get pregnant when in reality the window is so small to get pregnant, it's like 48 hrs...poor DH he sick of me saying sorry but we need to have a quickie lol sorry for tmi

I really wish there was a 'LIKE' button on here so I could like all of your posts ladies!

I'd like to go talk to my Dr but I'm not up for an appointment yet and not sure if this is a reason to make an appointment- just to talk? Plus if insurance will cover if not a regular exam is unlikely. Oh boy.

I'd say come off the pill now and let your body find its natural sync before your wedding day. You don't want to have your friend arrive uninvited to your big day because you stopped the pill right before and your body doesn't know what the hell it's doing yet. Or wait until right after, come off the pill, and start trying right away. You never know!

My doctor said to wait at least 3 months after coming off the pill to actively start trying. They want you to give your body time to adjust. I went off, started taking prenatals right away, waited the 3 months & started trying. We got pregnant our third month of actively trying (so 6 months after our wedding).

I've been on the pill for about 3 years now. I only went on it because I was really irregular (my doc tested me and I didn't have PCOS). I won't go into details since it is a little TMI, but hey, my body is the way it is.

FH wants to have kids ASAP (he's 33, I'm 28). I told him I want to be able to drink at my wedding lol. I actually had to come off the Pill for two weeks for a test and my period was actually going to start like it normally would've; of course two weeks is a small window.

We will more than likely start trying after the wedding. Interesting to hear the 3 month rule, I didn't know that. I'll have to keep that in mind when I end up talking to my doc.

I was on the pill for years and I decided to come off a few months ago because I felt like it wasn't good for my body. I get regular periods now, but they seem a bit longer. Cramps are the same. I started taking prenatal vitamins as well. FH wants to knock it out on the first night haha. We are using the so called pull out method before the wedding, but I know that can cause us to still get pregnant. Whatever happens, happens! We are ready whenever my body is. I am 28 and will be 29 when we get married, so my clock is ticking. I would like to drink at my wedding, but I can deal with not doing so if we do end up becoming pregnant.

Yea that's the other thing.. I def. want to be able to drink at the wedding and enjoy everything I can sine it is costing us so much money. I want a baby very badly but after waiting this long, I can wait 2 more months to start trying.

You should just be able to call and speak to your doctor without making an appointment.
