Re: storing my veil

the guy at Barrons told me to hang it up so that it doesn't get crushed and wrinkly... I'm planning on hanging it in the guest room closet at my parents' house so that it's hung in an out-of-the-way corner. Maybe just hang it with some plastic over it (like you get from the dry-cleaners, or just a big trash bag with a hole poked in the top for the hanger.)

here's another problem.... what should I do with my cathedral length mantilla????

that damn thing is 10 feet long, and our ceiling is only 9.5 feet.... Also, it's not a standard mantilla, the lace edge is ruffled, which adds to the complexity of the storage...

I feel like I should use it as drapes!

I hung mine with a light plastic over it.

I hung my dress from the ceiling for a while. YOu can do the same thing with your cathedral.

I just bought my veil today and the guy at Barrons also told me to hang it up so that it doesn't get wrinkled. You can put plastic over it like the one at the dry cleaners to keep it clean and safe. But he said you can also keep it in the box wrapped in tissue paper, but take it out and hang it up a few weeks before your wedding so that it can work the wrinkles out itself.

I did the same. All the wrinkles fell out pretty quickly.

it will be fine in a box or with tissue. take it out a few days before and have it steamed.

i wouldn't put it in dry cleaner plastic--i've read that you should never keep clothes in it because it does something, so i definitely wouldn't keep my veil in it!

you're better off keeping it safe in a box than having it laying on the floor or hanging where someone can touch it with dirty hands over several months. it could also get snagged on something.

Hang is somewhere where it won't get crushed or wrinkled, but that also does not have exposure to sun light. You don't want it to turn yellow from the sun!

I agree - I hung mine up as well.
