Storing your dress

So, I've been searching online all day and I think I've found THE dress...and it's on sale! I want to go try it on and buy it now but I'm afraid that even if it takes 3-4 months to come in I'll still have it lying around for a whole year before the big day.

What are you doing to keep your dress safe & sound before your big day? I know I could keep it in the bag and hang it in a closet but I'm worried something may happen to it...

My dress is wrapped in plastic (from the store).. then I have a white blanket wrapped around the whole thing to prevent light damage/exposure

Then it's inside a garment bag (big thick white bag) with another towel draped over the top to prevent sunlight/dust to penetrate..

may sound extreme, but that's what they told me to do at the bridal store I bought it from.
