Straightend hair

Straightend hair

I was just wondering - I got the Japanese hair straightening done a few months ago and it has made my life so much easier...

Just wondering though - when I want to do an updo for the wedding - will it stay or will the curls drop out? Curious? My MOH has the most naturally straight hair and can't get her hair to curl for anything, but her hair stayed really well when she got married - I'm planning on using her stylist. Just wondering... I may do half up half down.

My hair is Japanese Straightened... I got my hair done for my cousins wedding - it was mostly all up, but the tenderals that she left down were curled and stayed that way throughout the entire evening!!!

I am sure your hair will stay curled!

BY THE BY.. HOW GREAT IS JAPANESE STRAIGHTENING!!!!!!!!

I have done it twice so far and I am getting close to my third redo - its the best thing in the world!

Oh those who are still blowing their hair straight every day, you need to get this done... I had it done for the first time in September and I was told by the lady that did it that I probably wouldn't need a reprocessing until at least May. It was the greatest thing - took a full day - about 6 or 7 hours at the salon, but now I get out of the shower and dry my hair with a hair dryer - no brushes at all and I'm done in 5 minutes b/c I have long thick hair, otherwise it may even be faster. I can even go without drying it and it would dry straight, but this time of year it's too cold for me to go out with a wet-head.

I LOVE IT! I get compliments on my hair all the time now and I put little effort into it... my hair's never looked healthier - when I got it done was the last time I had my hair cut, I'm over due for a trim to even out the growth, but I will tell you - not ONE split end. When I was killing it with the hair dryer it looked fried within a few days of a hair cut.

I have thin hair so curls don't really stay in my hair. For the wedding I am getting some extensions to maximize the curls (I guess extensions hold curls).

I wish I could have japanese straightening my whole family has it. I have thin hair so it would be too flat and I love my highlights!

salons on LI charge WAAAAY too much to get it done...go into queens to one of the asian shops..most of them don't speak much english but they understand when you say 'magic straight'. They don't take appointments so you'd have to get there when they open but they charge like $300 less than salons on LI and in Manhattan and usually do a better job. Every time I've gotten it done (I have REALLY THICK LONG CURLY hair) it's only cost me anywhere from 250-300. It depends on your hair length and thickness. But definitely go to queens.

I just got it done for the 2nd time this past Saturday. I went into Flushing and had it done at Kim Sun Young. They were awesome. I paid $350 but my hair is down to my elbows. They did a wonderful job. They washed my hair at 11:50 a.m. and I walked out after the straightening process and a cut at 5:40 p.m.

The product that they used on me was Liscio. The first time I did it I went to Kim Sun Young in Manhattan with Jason. He did a great job then as well.

Kim Sun Young has 3 location in Manhattan, Flushing and NJ. They are a Korean Salon.

Well as some of you have read 2 weeks ago... i just got my hair done and i still wake up every morning thinking that it's all a dream! I love it! I can't believe that i've waiting this long to have it done. I got done at Hayato in nyc and i can't recommend them enough! Since my hair was really long, it cost $300, but it also included a haircut. Kenji did my hair and please go see him if anyone is interested!

*And yes your hair can hold a curl after you get it done. As always, use hairspray!

*By the way... it only took 3 hours!

I have naturally straight and extra thin hair. your curls should stay in if they tease it with hairspray/mousse beforehand and then spray it again afterwards. i've had my hair done in updos in several different salons and haven't had a problem with the curls staying in, but i usually warn the stylist beforehand to tease the hair first.

my sister has naturally curly hair (lucky girl!) and she had hers straightened in chinatown for around $150.

Re: Straightend hair

My hair is naturally pin straight. Curls tend to fall out but the salons tell me to have it 'dirty' for the wedding day and that will help the curls to stay in. I don't think I could have it 'dirty' but I will wash it at least 24 hours in advance before getting it styled.

Re: Straightend hair

I have had my hair straightened for the past 3 years. It is amazing and it did also hold a curl (with hairspray and a curling iron). It is so great to just wash it and have it be so straight.

The last time I got it done was in Februrary 2005 and my hair was destroyed. I had thick hair and the ends became so thin and brittle. I had been going to the same place and they said that if you do it too much, the chemicals can react differently especially if you also color your hair.

I still think it is the best thing, but I am waiting until after my wedding to get it done again.

Why can't we all just love our curls?

Seriously though...am I the ONLY one who has naturally curly hair and LOVES it naturally curly?
I had my hair blown out straight ONCE...My entire family acted like I killed someone.... They were completely mortified...Yep! Weird family!

Seriously though...anyone besides me?

Your hair should hold curl as soon as 3 months after getting it. I have it done and curl my hair when I go out. My last retouch was about 3 1/2 months ago.

Re: Straightend hair

My MOH has great curly hair- I told her not to get it chemically straightened but to do it herself the few times she wants it straight. There's an actress on All My Children with curls and I am jealous!! To me, I'd rather have curls that aren't too thick that I can occasionally straighten...

My hair isn't straight or curly and doens't look good naturally dried so I blow it straight most days but once I find a better curling product/gel I'm going to curl it more! I love curls!

That is what I was thinking reading the post.

I blow out my hair if I go out to a wedding or a party - well pay $20 for someone to do it - but mostly I like my curly hair for every day. I think I would miss my curly hair if i got rid of it all together.
