That is what I was thinking reading the post.
I blow out my hair if I go out to a wedding or a party - well pay $20 for someone to do it - but mostly I like my curly hair for every day. I think I would miss my curly hair if i got rid of it all together.
YEAH!

Re: Straightend hair
I have really really curly hair and i have had the japanese starightening done 3 times already. The last time i got it done was May 1st and i think the next time is going to be a month before my wedding. I have to say it does make life so much easier. I wouldn't say my hair is SO HEALTHY with japanese straightening, but it is no more unhealthy than if i blow-dried it and ironed it everyday. It actaully pretty good. I have a lot of new growth now, so i do have to brow dry it, but the nice thing is that it stays straight.

Can you have your hair straightened if you have highlights?

Re: Straightend hair
i wanna know how long it lasts, because i wanted to get it done, and my stylist said be careful, because it might get to skimpy looking. I still want to do it though, because i hate wavy hair.

I am with you!!!! I got it cut a few weeks ago and I had the salon blow it out (it was included in the price so.....) and let me tell you I couldnt wait to go back to curly! I actually saw people on the street with curly hair and I was jealous of them! I let the salon do it moreso to appease my curious family.
I too, dont understand why some curly haired girls want to have straight hair so bad. Why be like everyone else!!??!

Re: Straightend hair
My Japanese Straightening lasts about 6-8 months... then I start to see the 'kink.'I go to a place in Plainview that is under $300. I have had comments from other salons about how good of a job they do!

Re: Straightend hair
Try Tracey at Top Point Beauty Salon: 37-05B Prince Street, Flushing. She did one of my 12 year old gymnasts and her hair looked fabulous (most places won't process children's hair, but they did a great job). It's a matter of choice... if you love your curls that's great... personally, I feel I made the right choice for me... I love straight hair and for special occasions I just learned through this post that it can hold a curl...
When you blow it straight every day like I used to - it damages your hair terribly (figure 20-25 minutes with the hair drying at it's highest setting with a metal or ceramic brush - it's very harsh even with all the styling goup). I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say I used to get my hair trimmed, split ends cut maybe an inch or 2 up b/c it was so damaged, and no joke - 2 weeks later, my hair looked damaged, the ends were broken/split and it looked horrible... if I went outside in humity I looked like I had stuck my finger in a power socket! Now, I got my hair cut and straightend September 10th and I still don't see any spit ends, my hair is shiny and healthy. It can dry from soaking wet without any styling tools including a hair dryer and I have absolutely NO frizz. Frizz is what most of us hate I think. I also have a small frame and face but love long sexy hair so for me when my hair is poofy and curly it looks funny on such a petite woman and it hides my face to the point that then people are telling me to cut my hair or wear it up so that they can 'see my pretty face' (BLAHHHH!).

Re: Straightend hair
Ok, I have a weird related question. My hair is japanese staightened (and I LOVE it), but for my wedding I want a curled half up half down look, modeled after some pics I saw on this site. Now, should I let my hair go back to curly or redo the staightening before my wedding and have them curl it??

Just went to Tracy yesterday for the JHS. I love it.
I wish I had thought of doing it years ago.

Re: Straightend hair
my hairstylist told me not to get the Jap hair straightening again before my Nov. wedding because it will get too flat and straight. I don't know how I'm going to go a whole summer without it! I may get it relaxed instead of straightened. Japanese Straightening is the BEST thing I ever did!!!
