Straightening Curly hair

I was just wondering what products you girls use when you blow out your curly hair to straight. Thanks.

Re: Straightening Curly hair

If I blow my hair out, I just use a large round brush. Otherwise if I am in a rush (which I usually am) I will straighten my hair with the Hot Tools straightening iron. But it is totally ruining my hair!

OOPS - I'm a jerk, I don't read! I use the Clinique Straightening products. But after my hair is straight, I put this grease stuff that my brother got to smoooooooooooth it out.

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I use an anti frizz by Bumble and Bumble

or that Citrus Spray...

I now try to blow it dry with the curls and then make the sections, then put the oil crapy on it and then blow with the brush.

I use another product.. I will post the name tom.. It works GREAT but you only need a drop and my hair is long. It touches my elbows just about!!!!

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I have this IRoN from Italy and its so hot steam comes off it but its so bad for your hair and I bleach it so I STAY away from that unless its the summer and I have no CHOICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always use a chelestrol (sp) once a week if you use the iron alot. It helps mend it.......................

I feel blowing out my hair and then sleeping with velcro rollers works GREAT!

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I use TextureLine Kiwi Blow Serum when my hair is wet. I blowdry it in sections with a large round brush. Afterward, I put a tiny bit TextureLine pomade in.

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I use a bunch of products when my hair is wet and curly to dry and straight ... I'll post the correct names when I get home.
I blow out my curly hair all fall, winter and spring and leave it curly only in the summer -- can't fight the humidity. Plus, by then I need the change!

I do what Cira does and I use GREAT products. I will list them when I get home. One is an olive Oil spray that smells great and leaves your hair soooo shiny!!!!!

Re: Straightening Curly hair

Cool post! I am always looking for new products because I can't find one that works for me.

I blow it out and then put in the velcro rollers then regular hairspray (sometimes Frizz Ease). I pretty much blow my hair straight everyday because I don't know how to work with the natural curl/wave/frizz. Sometimes I will use a balm to finish if it is still really bad. Most balms or serums make my hair look greasy because I have really thin hair. My favorite product that I can't live without is my clippy. I take one everywhere I go. If it is a little humid or rainy (really bad days- I have no hope fpr straight hair -that's the day my hair is in a ponytail), I pull my hair in the clip while I am outside. Not too attractive but it keeps my hair from getting really curl (only a slight wave or a little frizz).

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I have naturally wavey hair and I just use the big round brush to get it straight & blow dry it in sections. Sometimes I use Loreal Straightener but a lot of times I don't even need it.

I would love to know how that revo styler works!!!

My blow-outs cost $25 but I have VERY, VERY curly hair and they get it super staright. That is when i am too lazy to do it myself which is pretty often.

Re: Straightening Curly hair

When I'm going to straighten my hair, I condition with (and in this order):
1. Redken Climatress Treatment
2. L'anza Detangler
3. Pantene Conditioner

I then use John Frieda's Frizz-Ease, but sparingly.

To blow my hair out, I use:
5' diam. Phillips Monster Vent brush
and
3' diam. ceramic thermal brush

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I'm constantly switching things up but currently I use, John Frieda's straightening creme, unwind or whatever it's called and I use a 2 inch thick brush with the metal rod.. I also use hair polisher to soften my hair..

Re: Straightening Curly hair

My friend bought the Revo Styler and I've borrowed it. It acually works pretty well once you get used to using it. It didn't save me much time, but did get my hair straight and it didn't make it frizzy at all. My hair is very curly and thick. I think it would be better for hair that is wavy rather than curly.

Re: Straightening Curly hair

I have the Revo styler (i'm a infomerical junkie). It works surprisingly well - I just have a problem using that and the blowdryer at the same time . When I can get both hands coordinated, it does make your hair super-straight and kinda shiny. However - they do warn that you can't use ANY styling products other than theirs (which of course are mucho $$$).

Good Luck!!!
