So I was at a wedding this weekend (beautiful wedding!!!) and on each table there were mini bottles of wine (one for each couple). Attached to the bottles of wine, there was a note that said, 'In lieu of a traditional favor, we have chosen to make a donation to such and such foundation...' Isn't a bottle of wine a wedding favor? It was a beautiful gesture, since the foundation they donated to was a disease the groom's nephew suffers from, but I just thought it was strange that they used the words, 'In lieu of a traditional favor...'

Maybe they bought the bottles last minute to go with the paper? Thats odd...but maybe to them they thought it wasnt much of a thank you gift?

Yea maybe! I thought it was funny because we were with another couple who didn't give any favor. They must have left a little stupid...

Re: Strange...?
i think they probably got confused. They probably looked up sayings to put on the table to let the guests know a donation was made in their name. So they probably copied what they found. But if they give a favor also then obviously they didnt need to say in lieu of.
