strange question - church near oakdale

does anyone know of any catholic churches near oakdale that doesn't require the couple to be parishoners to marry them?

i'm really worried that i will have a difficult time finding a church near the RH and i can't really go to a church near my parents b/c i grew up in new jersey.

any help is really appreciated!

tia.

St. John's in Bohemia. I know that's the closest one, but I'm not sure if you need to be a parishoner or not.
Good luck!

A friend of mine got married at St. John of Nepomucene... its in Bohemia which is close to Okadale. You can also go on the Diocese of Rockville Centre's website and search for parishes.

www.drvc.org

Is your FH, or his parents, a member of a parish? That parish would marry you. Many parishes on LI do not marry non-parishoners due to the fact that they have so many of their own parishoners getting married and they get priority over the dates... perhaps you should join a parish on LI now that you're living here? than you would be all set....

my parents are in nj and his parents in the bronx. and we live in queens now. so joining a parish in long island might be tough since the rh we'd like is in oakdae and is not close to us.

it's a good idea. i guess i'll see if i can try without becoming a parishoner.

you coudl also try looking at Churches in Queens... there are so many.... and as long as you give people enough travel time, why not get married in Queens and enjoy your limo ride to Oakdale?

If you are both catholic you should be able to get married in most churches. They just charge you more if you aren't a parishoner. Mine charges people who aren't part of the parish $300 more.

Good luck!

We got married at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. It's on the corner of Sunrise Highway and North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. Beautiful church!

The closest ones to Oakdale would probably be St. John Nepomocene in Bohemia on Locust Ave. and St. Lawrence in Sayville on Montauk Highway.

Good luck!

Our Lady of the Snow, in Bluepoint?
Try that one. It's beautiful, too.

This is where I'm getting married. I'm not a parishoner but FH is. They've been great so far. You should give them a call.
