Now... don't get me wrong, I think that the strapless dresses are GORGEOUS. But I don't have the right build for it. I think my boobs are too big and my shoulders are too broad.
The bridal place said they can add straps or sleeves to the dress I love.. but it jacks the price of the dress up CONSIDERABLY.
*sigh*
Anyone have suggestions for a girl like me who can't wear the strapless option well?

There are dresses with sleeves.... but most seem a bit dated to my eye.
It may just be that the dress that I LOVE is strapless.. so nothing else compares.
*sigh*

My dress has wide straps as well (look in my community album for the photo). I bought mine at David's Bridal, it's an Oleg Cassini dress. Have you looked there? They have a beautiful dress collection - I just wouldn't trust them with my alterations.

You should try to see if you can find a dress that you like that has sleeves. I needed sleeves also and found paradise bridal in patchogue..they had the largest collection of dresses with sleeves.....
Why not try something like this? It's Maggie Sottero, and I think it's gorgeous!

I like this one too. It comes in different colors if you don't like the cognac. I think it comes in all white as well.

have you tried a strapless? i thought i couldn't wear them either but they wound up looking much better on me than anything with straps or sleeves. and i am definitely not built like a wall!

i thought the same thing and was very frustrated that everything was strapless! so i got a strapless dress and added straps to it for $20 i think... well at my last fitting i just didnt feel right aboutmy dress... couldnt figure out why... it turns out it was the straps that i hated, so i tucked them in and didnt even use them! I never in a million years would have thought that i was going to wear a strapless wedding gown... but i did, thanks to maggie sotteros awesome corset back!

Look at dresses tht have teachup sleeves .. those are the best kinds if u feel like ur shouders are too broad. Good luck.

I was in the same boat..i did not want sleeves...i found my dress from bonny.com it ended up being much less than i planned on spending...which i am not complaining about and it is beautiful!

p.s.. i never wanted to have them add sleeves, because i did not want to commit to something that i did not know what it would look like.

there are definitely dresses out there that are not strapless... have you actually tried on any strapless dresses? I thought I didn't want one either, but wound up with one!

mine is'nt strapless - pics are in my community album called 'wed stuff'....its also a Maggie Sottero! Her dresses are flattering to sooo many people - even chunks like me!

I think that their are many beautiful dresses out there with cap sleeves that would probably look great on you. Don't give up. Keep looking and you will find the dress that you love. And if it is a strapless dress that you end up falling in love with, then you can definitely add straps if you want to. Good Luck!

Maggie Soterro and PC Mary's are two lines that usually come with removable straps or sleeves. My dress by Mary's cane with straps and a jacket! Check out bridesave.com for options.

Maybe you can find a strapless you like and have sleeves or cap sleeves added? I was blessed with flabby arms and I am considering asking my seamstress to add cap sleeves for me.
