Stressed!

Stressed!

Ok...so wedding planning is totally stressing me out. I feel like everything I attempt to do doesn't get finalized. Like I can never make the check on the list. I have 1 BM that I still have yet to ask. Trying to finalize my save the dates. All we have done is RH and photo/video. Contacted a dj, contacted an officiant. Checked out RH yesterday so we can move forward on decor. My biggest headache....the dress.

I went last week to 5 places. Tried on tons of dresses. Went with my mom and aunt. They both said they didn't know how I was going to make a decision. Basically I'm looking for lace, not strapless - i know I can add straps, and not poofy. I actually prefer a dress with no bustle. That is pretty much what my mom's dress was. However, changes need to be made. I've inquired on the boards for seamstress info but haven't contacted anyone yet. not sure what the cost would be etc, and I risk the dress being ruined and then having to buy a dress.

Went back to two stores yesterday and looked at the top two at each store. When I tried on the last dress, I wanted to cry. Not cause I love the dress but cause I have no clue how I am going to make this decision. I'm less than 8 months out...I need to get this done. I have such a stress headache.

Inhale and exhale! I think we can all relate. Give yourself credit with the things you have accomplished.

May I suggest taking a break from dress shopping, and then on any random tuesday go alone and try on some dresses.

Is there a designer that you have found some styles you like?

Re: Stressed!

I'm in the same month as you... just a few weeks earlier. First thing you need to do is breathe! I'm in the same boat as the stress factor goes. FH was supposed to mail the STDs out like 2 months ago..but he kept 'fogetting' to bring them to work..so I'm just gonna take it upon myself. Lol. I still need to find a resonable florist (under 3000!! ) limos, MY gown...etc ... I think it'll all work out just fine. My main stress is money...and a church. I found the perfect church, but it's a female pastor, and BOTH my moms are aginst that...OY! Then, FH and I are paying for MOST of the wedding...and we just have NO money! LOL...Don't worry...it'll all work out. All this stress will be well paid off in April! YAY!!!
It sure can't come SOON enough!!!
Just keep your head up! It'll all work out ok!!

Maybe u need a break for a little while from this planning thing. Sometimes you can stress so much you don't think clearly. It's supposed to be fun and it doesn't sound like you are enjoying it.

You definately have to take a break from all of this for a bit ! There is no need to stress out about all of this . Planning should be a stress thing. Thank God I have my FH who is wonderful through all of this so far and is into it like me.
It will all be done in time... and one thing... dont just settle for anything less than you like.. especially your dress ! GOOD LUCK !

I'm trying to breathe. I know that things kinda happen in waves. Nothing done and then boom several things completed. The dress thing has me perplexed because I really don't envision getting that you just know feeling. I got it with my RH. Just don't see it with the dress. I like this part of that dress, and that part of this dress, etc.

As for designers that I like...Lazaro, Maggie Sottero. I really didn't go all crazy with bridal magazines or searching online because I figured I might find a dress that isn't available. I tried on a lot of Lazaro and didn't really care for any of them. I just started dress shopping last week. Everyone says the dresses take 6-8 months to come in and then 1-2 months for alterations. Unless I want to rush delivery, I'm pushing it. Besides, how do I decide if I want to alter my mom's dress? It's so hard to visualize. My parents feel it would be easiest to just purchase a dress. the Maggie Sottero dress I liked my mom feels others will have. And i know that I'm not going to have a 1 of a kind dress, unless I use my moms. She just feels like a lot more brides will be using it. . The other dress that I really like...I have no clue who the designer is.

I'm the type of person who likes to be different.

Yes I've tried it on. It needs to be altered size wise. She had a longer torso. It has sleeves and a high neck. I like the way it looks as it is but don't want the collar. We tried folding it down to get a visual of a more sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. When we did that, it isn't as fitting so when I look at the pics, I feel wide and it's distracting.

I cant help u with the dress stuff becuase i havent found anything i like. Sometimes i never think i will... But it seems like you are trying to do sooo much at once. Take a little break and go do something fun with FH, just for a night or a weekend, no wedding talk allowed. And then when you come back lay out the unfinished things, dont start another. Take one or 2 at a time before you start another. there are so many things to do it gets overwhelming. Also, i love LIW but you might need a day or 2 break sometimes seeing all the things girls have done or all the progress they are making makes it hard for me.

You do have lots of things done and progress on things is better than having no ideas at all.. just remember that. and keep on trucking along.. a little at a time.

Re: Stressed!

take a break for a week thats what i did and then start with ONE thing at a time like only go see DJ's then when thats done move on to STD's etc etc It has worked for me because I was in ur boat and I couldnt sleep at night it was soooooooooo stressful then I took a step back and sloooowwwwed down. If u are doing too much at one time u may not make the right decision about ur dress or a vendor so my advice would be take a week breakthen go back and start with 1 thing first
