Stressed....finding a hall woes!

Stressed....finding a hall woes!

Im really disappointed ....well FH and I have been looking for halls and we have narrowed it down to: Jericho Terrace I liked the place but I don't love it although i've heard the food is really good and that's what we care about as well. On the other hand FH doesn't really like the fact that he thinks the actual entrance and lobby is over decorated. We were also looking to have our reception at a place that has beautiful grounds to take photos. So this is what we are looking at: Beautiful Grounds and Great food!!!. FH doesn't like the Fox Hollow he hates the long dance floor so that's a NO...Jericho Terrace we like but no outside really just a little fountain :(. We are looking at the Swan Club tonight and Chateau La Mer on friday . If anyone has been to either places for a wedding please comment on food and grounds. And if possible compared between Jericho, Chateau La Mer and Swan club where will you recommend??? PLEASE HELP ME this is getting to me and i am soo frustrated :( take care

The grounds at the Swan Club are AMAZING. Been to a wedding there a couple of months ago. LOVE IT.

- Well if you can book somewhere i suffolk check out Majestic Gardens. go to their web site. The grounds are breathtaking which is why I booked there and the food is fantastic. They just won more catering awards for 2008. They have an expo on 9/10/08 at 6:30 i think. def check out the website. let me know if you have further questings about pricing and stuff

They said they are not booking 2010 weddings because it's too far!! this turned me off immediately they didn't even let me look at the place not cool :(

I tried to look there too for my November 2009 wedding and they wouldn't let me come in either! Someone told me that they might close down. But that could be a rumor, I don't know!

I was going to suggest WCC as well, but they are closing in 2010. It's a shame because they have everything you're looking for - amazing food and gorgeous grounds.

im biased but i LOVE the swan club! the grounds are truly amazing and when i went to their showcase, the food was very good! i have tons of pics of it in one of my albums! let us know how it goes! CLM would have been my other choice, but it was just too far for most of my guests

What about Crest Hollow? FH and I didn't book there, but they were our second choice.

Would you consider a Saturday afternoon wedding? We're doing an afternoon so I know it's cheaper at WM for a Sat afternoon then Fri night. And should be within your budget.

Re: Stressed....finding a hall woes!

my FH and i arent crazy about the lobby of JT either (we are getting married there) its very busy/ornate and not our simple style - but we arent having our wedding in the lobby or hallway so i stopped caring about that we love the reception room and we liked that we could have our ceremony there as well.....we are getting married in the off season so a place that had nice grounds didnt matter to us - but even if we were getting married during peak time i wouldnt have a booked a place just b/c it had nice grounds b/c if it rains you are screwed - but thats the chance you take if you are set on an outdoor ceremony or CH....but like i said for us it didnt apply since our wedding is in december and everything will be indoors.....

maybe it will be easier to decide if you see who offers you the most for your money?

Swan Club is beautiful, just a note to watch...there is always more than one wedding going on at a time, last year at a friends wedding we actually SHARED our cocktail hour (outside) with another wedding, a little akward.
And i may be biased :) but go look at the Inn in New Hyde Park:)
Good luck

If you are going to check out Majestic Gardens, I would also check out East wind. If you are not having a HUGE wedding, the Country Gardens is very quaint and personnal. By huge I mean over 150. There other places are nice as well, but I think they may be out of your price range. I didn't inquire about the other places. We paid 100pp, that includes tax & gratuity (2006 prices). I would still check them out. Good luck to you. You will find the perfect place and you will know once you see it!!
