Stressed/Vent

Stressed/Vent

OK so after FH and I got engaged we decided it would be a good idea to move in together before the wedding because it's a 'good time to buy.' We started looking at houses but realized there was no way we could afford them so we started looking at co-ops. We fell in love with a 2 bedroom in RVC and our bid was accepted on March 4th. Since then we've been going through hell trying to get all the paper work done fast so that we could close before June 30th and get the $8,000 tax back. We were doing so good, the board was set to meet on 5/24 to go over paper work and then they were going to call us for an interview, which we were told would be about a week after that. If we were approved at the interview we would then set a closing date.

Well, the board cancelled the meeting on the 24th! They're not meeting again until June 7th so now our interview date is set for June 17th!!! That gives us 12 days to close!!! So basically we're not getting the $8,000 back!!! I called to complain and the answer I got was 'It's a busy time for board members with graduations and communions so everyone is pretty tired' AHHHHHHHHH

Sorry for the long vent, I'm just so aggravated!!!!

PS- FH and I have been bouncing back and forth between our parent's houses so that we can be together sooo we've been sharing a twin bed!

is the interview the only thing holding up the closing date? Do you have your mortgage and everything already? Maybe there is still a chance to fall in that window if everything is lined up....

Yup the interview is the only thing holding us up. Our mortgage has been approved for a month, now the problem is that our rate expires on June 13th so we have to pay to have it extended another month. I'm hoping that we can fit our closing into the following 12 days, $8,000 is a lot of money lol

That blows. Hope it all works out. I think you should invest in an air mattress till then. 2 people in a twin bed has got to be uncomfortable.

co-op are crazy like that but dont stress its stil lpossible to close in that amount of time isnt it? TRy and set up a time with the sell that works for them and then all you need is the co-ops lawyer to be there right? Take a deep breath and stay positive

Im sorry you are going thru this! I hope that everything works out! Do you have a lawyer at all? sometimes the lawyers can get things to move along faster. That is so unfair that you could lose that money now.

you should be able to..we had to pay to extend our mortgage too..*****...but if that is the only thing holding you up then I really do think you should be able to fit the closing in..have you talked to your lawyer?

Thanks ladies!! We called our lawyer this morning but he's not in until 2, hopefully we can get our closing in before June 30th. We're just aggravated with the whole situation!

Re: Stressed/Vent

i work with a mortgage real estate company and coops are too much for me to handle. they rule your life, which i hate!!!
but if your mortgage is approved, it can be done! trust me, keep calling and harassing everyone from your brokers(if you ahev them) to your attorney and the bank and it will get done!

It may be a sign...co-ops are not the best investment. It is like glorified renting. There are so many rules at those places and they are hard to re-sell.

Omg! That sucksss!! I feel your pain. It's so expensive to buy a house when you are just starting out. Me and FH are in a tiny, tiny studio and we are hunting for something bigger but affordable also. It's really hard!! We would love to just buy a house, but don't have that kind of money right now at all!
