Re: stressing out...
You have over a year to go.. I wish I did!!! Set a budget and put so much back each pay. Book early if possible make payments on the things you can it is much easier that way. Make sure you also try to stash a bit aside for an emergency situation... THAT is a BIGGIE!!! We did not do this and I wish we had because I got sick a couple months ago then lost my job 2 months later... Do I have to tell you the stress I am under trying to figure out how to pay off my wedding in 2 months time? I am serious try to put a bit back for that EMERGENCY and start to make payments on things. That is the best advice I can give a Future Bride based on my experience.

Re: stressing out...
one thing that helps is figuring out how much money ____ will cost you, divide it by the number of months you have left (leave a buffer zone) and then have it automatically taken out of your checking acct and put into a savings acct for that specific thing
ex: FH calculated his half of the honeymoon, divided it by the number of months, and has it transferred each month into 'honeymoon savings' (an ING acct that earns high interest)
then you dont need to think about it and it's automatically taken out so you never forget. its like that 'pay yourself first' mentality

Re: stressing out...
we also did a wedding saving account... for everything we do until our wedding we see how much it would cost (say going out to eat or buying each other presents) we instead put in a wedding fund... we also put $50 a week into the fund...

Re: stressing out...
would it help to have a cc that gave you miles you could use on the honeymoon? At least you would be cutting one cost.

Re: stressing out...
Definitely work out a budget. When I did that it helped me to see how much we could be saving if we weren't spending our money so foolishly. Once you see the numbers, it makes you WANT to save! Also, there are lots of great ways to cut corners. If you haven't already ordered invitations, check out the link below - I'm getting mine thru them for a great price and they are beautiful yet not too pricey! FH and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves so believe me I know how difficult it can be Good luck with your planning!
All good tips above!! Celeste is right about the invitations, that's definitely a BIG expense if you fall in love with something $$$$, so try to go with something basic! Also unless you feel like lighting is imperative, I'd skip it, that money can be put toward something else. I made a charitable donation instead of favors, not for the cost savings per se, but it definitely is a cheaper than traditional favors. In my heart I really felt like it was a better use of funds, and most of our friends and family have enough porcelain frames/bottle stoppers/etc to last a lifetime. The donation was received SOOOO warmly by all of our guests (St. Jude's Children's hospital). Don't worry, you will make it!! You've got almost 18 months lead time, you'll be ok!!!

All the tips above are great! If you just put a little bit of money away each week, it adds up more then you can realize it!! For me, since i'm paying for almost everyhing...only getting one little check from my Mom... we are right now putting 125 a week away... and then I am doing an addational 40 ... just for the extra things to buy that I like. :) Plan out an approx. budget, and then devide it by how many weeks you'll have left. It'll be much easier than it seems. Good luck!

Re: stressing out...
Being that you have over a year definitely do the separate savings account. my FH and I opened a joint account together just for our 'wedding fund' right after we got engaged (we have an aprox 2 yr engagement) any how once we reach our first $10K mark we put the money in a 6 month CD and we earned almost $300 in interest for only 6 months (we continued to save during this time of course) with that $300 we did our invitations! so basically we got our invitations free. Since you have more than a year you can make your cd longer if you want.
Also search search online for deals!! I have prob saved 30-60% on everything but searching. you have the time so do it. I got Birchcraft invitations 45% off with free shipping. they would have cost almost $600 reg price i got the for like $280.
Good Luck!!

Re: stressing out...
I was the worse budgeter. I did automatic withdrawls from ING direct. I had a certain amount taken out of my bank acct. 2 times a month the day after I got paid. This way, you don't even see it, so you don't spend it.
