I havent TOTALLY freaked out yet, but I am on my way there. I just keep thinking about all of the money we have to spend from the wedding to a house to furniture and so on and so on. And with the holidays coming I am FREAKING a bit!!! Anyone else????

I am so there with you.. we just made the fist mortgage payment.. and then I looked at my CC bill that has some wedding stuff on it.. I have no idea how we are going to make it.. I am so scared..

Believe me I understand... My FH is the only one working because i am in school... it is soo hard... i cant wait till this wedding is over so we wont have to worry soooo much

I am right there with you Jen! I still have studnet loans, credit cards, truck, insurance...all of that!! I cant imagine what it'll be like with a MORTGAGE!! GOod luck!! I guess we have to cut down on our trips to Red Lobster!!!

FH and I were a little worried, but between both of us we have good chunk in savings. unfortunately in 3 months he'll be having oral surgery done and doesnt have dental(not thatd it cover it anyway) and needs it ASAP this in total will cost about 10K when its all said and done, which of course takes that outta our savings. it was an eye opener like what if something else happened, and since we dont live together yet and need to get place few months before wedding itll take good piece of our savings too so we had to postpone. In the long run its worth it, it ***** to postpone but we'll have a great cushion in the bank now. knock on wood.

Girls, I am in the same boat. I feel like I should be commited to a psych ward. At first my FH was freaking about the money issue on the wedding, now I am. We pretty much wiped out our wedding account on my car because in the past three weeks we spent over $1300 fixing it, then I get laid off from my job and still havent got paid in three weeks. I feel everytime we start saving more money, something goes wrong. Today I started to cry and was ready to call off the wedding because of money problems.

OMG. I am so sorry! We are in a somewhat similar situation. FH and I live apart but we share pretty much everything. We had MAJOR car issues where we ended up stranded in the middle of Jersey and had to get towed back to Queens for 500 bucks! On top of that we had to rebuild the tranny which cost 3K! Then the battery died and that was another 100 bucks. Ack!!! We are saving for a down payment on top of paying for the wedding and we have not saved a single dime since August because of the car issues. I told FH the car is going to the junkyard if anything else requiring alot of $$ happens! Its a 98 honda accord coupe, but the transmission blowing really set us back a great deal. I am trying to figure out how to pay for all these deposits, rings, dress, etc. I am trying to space things out so there isn't a huge hit to the wallet in one month. November was photog/video, Dec will probably be DJ. Jan will be the dress and so on, LOL. My younger brother asked what I wanted for Xmas and I told him money so he ended up paying the 175 for our pre cana classes.

I completely understand...We purchased our home in August & we did what we could to 'just live.' There is no need to furnish the entire house at this point...We are also paying for the entire wedding ourselves (thank goodness we have it all saved up)...
Now with Christmas, we put limits on everthing. We are not exchanging with all the people we use to bc it was just way too much! Most of the cousin's are getting presents for the wedding, so they can wait 4 months Both of us now have nephews, so most of the gifts are going to them!
People will realize that this is a big financial year, so don't sweat it...Do what you can & remember, the thought is what counts

Everyday-at this point I am okay with having nothing but bedroom furniture until after the wedding-at least the house we buy will be out own. I would say I stress really bad every few weeks but then I say-a lot of people I know did it-so can we.

I hear you, my FH and I just had this conversation this morning. My lease is up in 2 mos and we're looking to buy a house. It's like wow, all of the sudden I feel like a grown up! Wedding, house, student loans, etc!

Well its official Girls, today I was laid off and the new owner didn't have the guts to tell me when I came to pick up my paycheck today and he was also nasty about giving me my paid week vacation that i am owed.

The key is to budget, budget, budget!! Each month you have to write down what you are going to book and how much it is going to cost. Then you have to figure out how much each week or every two depending on how you get paid to cover the expense. My FH and I made an excel spread sheet and we have 7 months to go and although we still stress out, we look at our spread sheet and then breathe because we are on track and money is being dispursed at the right time. You have to budget when it comes to this. It's a lot of money, so you have to back off on a lot of things that you like to do for fun. If you figure out how much you have to put away each week, then you know how much you can spend. It worked for us, maybe this could help some of you.
