I was disappointed with the last pair of shoes I got for Luke, which was right before Valentine's Day. They were not defective, they were supposedly nubuck but the very first time he wore them the toes got scuffed and they were impossible to get looking good again. I had nubucks for him before and the brush always worked pretty good. But he wore them a bunch of times and I figured OK live and learn but then everytime I put them on him, it really bothered me. I brought them back to the store today and they let me return them no questions asked. Actually, I was able to exchange them for another pair that were suede and leather, a little more sporty looking but with the spring coming, it probably is a much better pair for him. I was very pleased, I went in ready to have to plead my case (and get ornery if necessary) but nothing, they just changed them. Now that's customer service!

Good for you! I agree. I was very impressed with Stride Rite!! We bought Maiah's first shoes at one when we were on LI visiting her Nana and Pop. They were sooooo helpful!! I wish they had a store in Maine!!

I think that's why Stride Rite has been around since I was a kid! And a long time before that! That's great you were able to get him other shoes...

Liz, did you go to a Stride Rite chain, or a bootery that sells Stride Rite brand? Just curious if the customer service is consistent to the product, or just the store.

Re: Stride Rite is the best
Claud - it was a chain store (Roosevelt Field) I use to go to the one closest to me at Sunrise Mall but they were privately owned and didn't have as much of a selection, especially when he measured wide.
I think that it was probably easier to return at the chain store than private one. Although I might be wrong that is my hunch.
My next SR shopping trip will be at the outlets in the summer.

Re: Stride Rite is the best
I had worked for Stride Rite while going to college and I do have to say that they are great! At least the chains stand behind their product and fitting. We all had to be trained as a certified fitting specialist and it was gaurenteed that your child wouldn't grow out of his/her shoes in a certain amount of time or you get the next size free! I forgot how long the gaurentee was for but I think it was 3 months????
