I hate to say it, but right now I'm hating it and dreading going back in tomorrow. I like teaching the kids, but it's so much to keep up with, and some of the staff has been just mean. I'm still thinking teaching could be really great once I have my lesson plans down and once I have my own classroom and I'm not constantly being supervised. Yes I realize that I'll be observed in the future, but it's different when your watched every day and some of the staff isn't very nice. I'm sure everyones experiences are different with student teaching, but can someone out there please tell me about the light at the end of the tunnel? I need a hug.

Re: Student Teaching
Sorry I can't relate except for all the work that goes into it..my school was really great and welcoming.
Just remember you are almost done and then you can start looking for your own class

Re: Student Teaching
girly the same thing happened to me. The teacher that I was working with in HS wasn't too good either, her review wasn't nice either. Nothing compared to my middle school teacher, he was the best! and gave me soooo much input! Thank goodness my professor knew what kind of student teacher I was and gave me a good grade. It'll get better, trust me. Once u get ur own classroom and kids, u'll feel much better and can create ur lesson plans the way u want to without being supervised by another teacher.

Did it take a few years for things to get easier?

Re: Student Teaching
for me it got better once I had my own classroom and kids. Interact with teachers that are already working there so u can get feedbacks BUT whenever they start gossiping about anything STAY AWAY...remember u're also working towards being tenured.

Re: Student Teaching
Omg. I am sorry for you. I had fabulous experiences and I had to student teach in 3 grades for my masters. What an awful feeling to have. I don't get why people device to take a student teacher if there personality is not for it. I feel worse that other staff members are not being nice.
Your classroom will make you feel so different. I love teaching.
Ps You just reminded me to call my soon to be student teacher. It is my first one and I am so excited!

Re: Student Teaching
Student teaching is WAY harder than having your own classroom...you are at the mercy of your cooperating teacher and don't always have the opportunity to do the things you want to do. Hang in there!
