So I got my braces on 6 weeks ago. I had my first adjustment last night. They told me when I got them on that I would be getting my lowers on in 4 months.
Well, last night after they looked at my teeth, they decided that at my next adjustment I'll be getting my lowers put on. (Jan14)
Well, that's not a big deal.........what the problem is is that since my overbite is so deep, they will have to put spacers in my mouth!!! That means that my mouth won't close all the way for 6 weeks!!! Soft food and liquids!!!!
NOT a happy camper!! Why can't they just wait for the 4 months so my overbite opens up more!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
Sorry, just had to vent! Not a happy camper!!!
Anyone had to do this???

I haven't gone through that .... but I did have braces as a kid for 4 years! Oh the torture I endured from my brother ....

I dealt with that 4 years ago. I have a great smile now so it was worth it .. but I remember the pain and the frustrations .. and the liquid diet! hang in there!

Did you have to get the spacers too? If so, how long did you have to wear them for?

Close enough. Don't worry. Once you lose some weight and love your new body I bet you'll think twice about eating bad food. Therefore, that sexy body stays till the wedding and honeymoon! My logic is the best!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue what you are going through. I never had braces but I had a friend who did when we were little and he ripped them out of his mouth with his bare hands. It wasn't pretty.

LOL I was gonna say the same thing! 6 weeks of liquid diet equals easy weight loss! When I had braces, I had to have all kinds of extractions and oral surgeries (crowding, big teeth set on a tiny jaw) it was horrible but I lost lots of weight during the 2 weeks or so when I couldn't eat solid foods, multiply that by 3! I almost wish I had an issue like that now, it would really help my lazy azz.

never had to do that.....but you're FH will treat you like a queen, you can eat fribbles and milkshakes guilt free, and but you won't even have to diet for your wedding!

I didn't get the 'spacers' but when I got them on (both at the same time), my top teeth were hitting the bottom braces so they stuck this blue glue crap on my back teeth that hardens so my top jaw didn't come down all they way...all that touched when I ate was the blue stuff to my top teeth. My jaw was KILLING Me for days because I couldn't close it all the way, not to mention EATING./...I only had two teeth that would touch! THAT was the WORST!....

It was aweful and I had rubberbands to adjust my overbite. The rubberbands would shoot out of my mouth at various times. It was rather embarrassing. My friend had an expander on the top of her mouth that had to be turned with a key once a week. She was in agony for 2 years. Good luck and I recommend cream of wheat made with milk for meals. It is a great braces diet

It's a good thing that I LOVE cream of wheat then.....lol lol lol. Thanks for the info.....that's what I have ...... overbite, but they never mentioned bands to me yet. I hope I don't get them. How horrible if they popped out and hit someone!!!!

Hmmmmm,I'm almost thinking it may be the same thing. I'll have to let you know when they do it to my teeth. Thanks for letting me know what I'm getting myself into though......
