Stupid Centerpiece Question

I feel like a dope, but I have to ask this! If you make your own centerpieces, ie: candles, etc......who puts them together on the tables the day of the wedding???

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

I think you can ask your day-of coordinator, if you have one, or maybe a cousin, aunt, or close friend. I don't think your catering hall would set all of that up for you, but I could be wrong.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

I'm not sure (I'm using a florist) but I would guess that either you drop them off at the hall and they would do it for you, or maybe you have a close friend or family member do it the night before or day of.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

You can take them to your hall and while they set up everything(favors, napkins, etc) else they can do the centerpieces also.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

usually a friend or someone else. i doubt the hall will do it unless you pay them. i had a decorator do my centerpieces, but my contact from the hall had the little things i needed set up for me so that was sweet .. but most won't without charging.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

My hall said they wouldn't have a problem putting things out on the tables for us. They're gonna be putting all the favors out anyway, and if you give them to them already made, it's not like there's any real work for them. If they need some set up...I dunno. You could make a mock set up and take a picture of it to give them so they know exactly what you want it to look like.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

My bridal party made my centerpieces...but our CH stated they would place everything, they just need a pic and detailed instructions and that's it....they told us to box up our items and deliver them the week of our wedding, at no extra charge

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

i have yet to coordinate this. what i am assuming, but need to definitely verify, is that our hall will place them on the tables. i will designate someone to head over and monitor this process to make sure it looks the way we want it to look...

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

Im sure your banquet manager can have someone sey it up or do it themselves. what if you go a week before and show them a sample of how you want it set up ... even take a picture... then have them set it up that day and go peek during the CH hour before anyone else sees its.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

yeah, i have to call the hall on this one. I think the florist is doing the centerpeices, but i may be adding in some candles & other things.
I have a cousin & uncle who can do it right before the coctail hour ( we can go in a half hour early for pics, for the band to set up, etc, so I that's when they'd do it I guess.

Poor kid, little does he know, he's my back up if i need any thing to be taken down form the church, put up in the hall, etc.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

Just make sure that your hall allows you to do this. My hall would not allow it. The flowers had to come from a professional florist. The florist had to give them their insurance info.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

Same here my hall wouldn't allow us to do it. It has to be done by someone with insurance. I asked if a freind coudl and they said that friend would have to get insurance for the day. There are places that will sell insurance just for the day of the event. I thought that was ridiculous. I think in certain situtaions they will let you sign a waiver but we didn't do that we jsut got a florist.

Re: Stupid Centerpiece Question

I got around the insurance problem.. I am having my flowers done as a side job by the floral arranger for a large florist. Obviously she dosnt have insurance. I called my hall and told them my aunt works for a florist and is doing the flowers for me as a side job and she dosnt have the ins. They said when it comes closer to the wedding I have to go in and Sign a wavier releasing the hall from all liabilitys. I honestly can't see any problems arising from a florist setting up centerpieces. She is a professional and does it all the time. If it was a DJ or soemthing else then I could possibly see them dropping a speaking and denting a floor or a wall or soemthing but I really dont see a problem with the centerpieces.
