Stupid Cooking question...

DH's sister, husband, niece, and Dad are coming over for dinner tomorrow night and I want to cook raviolis with tomato sauce. Now I also want to buy Lobster raviolis cuz I love it! Can I put the tomato sauce on them? or does it have to be a certain kind of sauce?

Also what is the best wine to use when cooking and where do i have to buy it?

Usually lobster ravs are served with a pink sauce. You can buy it premade at an italian pork store or in the supermarket. For wine you may as well use cooking wine since it's probably cheaper. You can use any dry(not sweet) bottled red or white to cook with

just add a little bit of heavy cream to your regular tomato sauce to make a pink sauce - it's so good, and super easy.

maybe i'll just get the spinach or meat raviolis. His family likes the cheese and I'm not crazy about so I'll get something different for me....

bedda- go to a&s pork store- they have a few locations - or a good italian food store

buy the ravioli there and also the sauce there.
you can serve the lobster rav with vodka sauce. if you are in doubt you can buy rao's brand vodka sauce at the supermarket- its like 8.00 but very good.

when you serve wine with the meal ask the liquor store for a decent chianti. that always goes well with pasta dishes.

Cooking wine should be in the oil and/or spice aisle. You can also buy a chaepie bottle at the liquor store. Just cork it when you're done. You can cook with wine months after you would want to drink it

do it! I'm telling you, it's good.

Just add it slowly, so you don't overdo it.

I do this too, I buy the little heavy cream and use about 1/2 of it, but that is only a serving for 2 maybe 3 people. I would the pint and just pour a little at a time, then stir it to see the color. Adding parm cheese is good too

As a rule, I wouldn't ever cook with something I wouldn't drink.
