Stupid job posting.....

OK as you may know from my recent gripe posts, I am looking for a job. It sux, but today I had to gripe about this funny but HUGE PET PEEVE I HAVE with job postings. Now granted, I have some typos when I post here, but generally I am pretty accurate & I proofread everything to death (when it counts).

This particular job was for a Marketing Coordinator Assistant position. The funny thing was, there were about 6 typos in it (not to mention the abominable grammar) and they had in bold type MUST BE DETAIL ORIENTED, AND METICULIS (spelled this way) WHEN WRITING ANY MEMOS, COPY, ETC.

Could you vomit? I think that's pretty nervy.

Guess they have two positions available then

This is my biggest pet peeve. There are so many mistakes in textbooks too. I swear I should be an editor bc these things stick out so much to me, esp on a job ad!

I completely agree!! How unprofessional!

As a general rule I will not shop at places that have misspellings or bad grammar in their ads.

I recently ate at a restaurant that had 'mahi mahi with mushroom's tomato's and caper's' on the menu - I almost got up from the table and left!

Matron: I used to get very p-o'd with the way some of the text books were written. One book that I used for a General Psych class was overflowing with mistakes. During the last few days of class I told the Prof. he needs to find a better book. It irritated me that I had to pay $80 something for a complete & utter massacre of the English language

ugh... I hate that too....I pointed out a mistake in a menu to a waitress the other day. she SO did not care

.... the funniest thing - St. John's has a laptop for Freshman program. About one month after the distribution of the laptops, some went missing, so the security/public safety put little signs in the cafeteria 'Please so not leave lap top's unattended'

My favorite is when they write 'If you need Spanish Language Application, please follow these instructions...'

And they write it in ENGLISH!! If they can't follow an application in English, how are they going to read that ad in English!!

Stupid people!!

The mystery apostrophe! My friend Mike and I would always send one another work-related e-mails with mystery apostrophes just to annoy each other! That's the worst!!!!!

You should NOT have brought up this topic. My cooperating teacher gave a spelling list out to her third grade class with a misspelled word on it. As if that wasn't bad enough, she told me to mark the children WRONG if they spelled it RIGHT because they should have studied it the wrong way. (She was a real winner, let me tell ya...)

Oh my - that's bad!!!

bad grammar gets on my nerves as well...in the NY Post the other day, they had a quote from someone with a misplaced apostrophe.........TWICE!!!!! I couldn't believe it...how can you write for a newspaper and not know grammar!!!????

I also correct menus when we're out.....and everything else that is written....

one time, my mother got a thank you card from someone at work and she thought it was really sweet, so she asked me to read it...and i found an error......and i've never let it go.....

I'm the same way!!


I'm reading the book 'Eats, Shoots & Leaves' by Lynne Truss. It's AWESOME! You have to read it. it's just for people like us, who can't stand poor grammar!
